Last week Roberto Bolle, dancer étoile at La Scala Theatre, posted on his Twitter account a picture of himself hugging his colleague and friend, also an étoile at La Scala, Beatrice Carbone (photo above).
And what a hug! The two, in their training clothes, hugged while doing a split - what Bolle defined as a "warm-up".
Well, most of us would not be able to pull off that kind of hug, but we think it looks really cool, so we decided "hug" would be our Word of the Week: abbraccio.
The plural is abbracci, as in baci e abbracci, kisses and hugs, which sometimes is used to sign off a letter or postcard.
To hug is abbracciare.
And if you need a hug from someone, you would say, “Abbracciami!”, as Italian singer Eros Ramazzotti does in the song below:
