Looking for some inexpensive suggestions for furnishing a small restored house nr Macerata e.g. bedroom furniture, in a traditional rustic style.
Ikea stores in Italy have a slightly different range to the UK and they include some traditional Italian styles (e.g. we got seats with woven straw seat bases for out kitchen from Ikea, not available in the UK). Unfortunately it looks like Roma Anagnina is the closest to you, at least in terms of how handy it is to get to via the autostrade.
We have a big Mercatone Uno locally but the words "cheap" and "quality" don't seem to go with MU, it's mostly sub-MFI style furniture. Occasional bargains can be had there but seem harder to find in furniture than in any other department. I get the feeling that MU service the market for people wanting to buy furniture "on tick" because most shoppers end up in an office with a salesman signing many, many forms.
When we bought a bed base and mattress cash it seemed to bring the system to a stop.
I don't know if this helps:

if you like ikea, and i personally don't,the nearest (about 2 and 1/4 hrs is Bologna until they make the new ones in Ancona and Pescara.Alternatively, and without the red tape mentioned you can find some v.nice furniture, reasonably priced, lots of styles from local furniture places in the area of macerata,You won't be expected to sign up to finance schemes, don't expect on line or web ordering as most don't do it,just as they don't take credit cards generally. However they wont expect you to pay everything up front, for delivery, for mounting etc it might put you on the spot as far as language is concerned but you'll get a pleasant retrò style service, choice and a good deal...just look around or ask a neighbour(italian)

The MERCATONE at Civitanova motorway interchange now has another branch at San Benedetto interchange. Another place we found was further south in the GLOBO shopping centre in Villa Rosa where there is a shop called MOBIL DICK. This has furniture on a par with MERCATONE (but the settees are crap).
We found branches of STOCKHOUSE were useful, and going north out of Corridonia there is a store called MOBILI Bella which has 'end of range' stock from other furniture outlets at good discounts. They have no catalogues and what you see is all they can offer. It's pot luck but it is worth a visit.
However we are still searching for a dining table which isn't brown teak or mahogany. Any idaes, with specific shop names ???

:) You could try Rosa Splendiamo on the road between Massa Fermana and Mogliano, on the right just before you go up the hill into Mogliano huge range of sofas, beds, tables all sort of stylish and a bit like the sort of stuff the Cotswold company in England do but much cheaper, very friendly English speaking staff.
good luck
I presume you have looked around Mercatoni uno in Civitanova Marche Commercial zone, and the couple of stores in the town itself, also, self in Piediripa, near city per also has a small amount of furniture, or, if you drive the main road from Montegiorgio to Fermo, follow the signs to "Stockhouse" off to the right before I per.
Or, try this link, I think they do on line ordering and delivery http://www.mondoconv.it/
Good Luck.
The shop to which you refer in Piediripa, near City Per, is it called "Self" ?? or is that a misprint ?
