11185 Intasure - our experience

Before we left Italy this fall, we did contact Intasure for a quote for insurance of house and content.

By a misfortune our house was burglered ten days after our departure. We have good friends in the area, who secured the house and photographed inside and out. We were the able to see what was stolen and report the burglary to Intasures representant here in Norway.

This we did 5. December.
Today, ten days later, we get a copy of a letter from Intasure, reimbursing all our claim so far, only deducting our policy excess.

And in the letter, it is stated that they will reimburse us the rest, after we have inspected the house and seen what is missing and finding receipts for some items.

I find the company excellent in their behaviour towards us. If only all company's that we have dealings with was this good, the world would have been a better place.

This message today has made our misfortune and unhappiness about the incident much easier to live with.

Happy yuletide to you all.!!! (and to Intasure in particular)

Glad to hear of a happy outcome Ilivar.

It is nice to hear good things about an insurance company and I agree with you that it makes the bad feeling, of having been burgled, easier to bear.

If only all insurance companies were as good and more importantly if only you could tell how they will react before you have to make a claim!

Very sorry to hear of your problems and do hope there has not been too much stolen but as we are insured with Intasure too it is good to know they have been so efficient and helpful. Thank you

One of the things that I enjoy on the forum is picking up recommendations that you might not otherwise find out about. So having thanked the thread starter, I set about checking out Intasure for myself – given that our household policy is up for renewal in mid Feb and I therefore I still have time to go and beg to be released from our existing contract.

I am delighted to report that:

- cover on a better than like for like basis is significantly cheaper than Duomo srl
- it covers permanent residency and also using the house as a business i.e. B&B
- premiums can be in sterling (which means that we will be able to reduce some of our exchange risk on sterling income at long last thank you God)
- the premium can be paid monthly which means we can budget with certainty
- the policy docs are written in “plain” English
- I have not had to show birth certificates from both parents, dog licence, send anything to anyone by fax and then post nor plead with anyone to be allowed to do business with them and finally
- the “experience” via the website, email contact and on the phone has been world class

So, if your house policy is up for renewal I suggest you “go compare” Holiday Home Insurance and Second Home Insurance from Intasure

I concur with all the good comments about Intasure - though thankfully we have not had to make a claim. One other bonus is that they cover us for earthquake which our previous insurer didn't and for bursts even when the property is empt - oh and yes you can pay monthly at no extra charge!!
