If we assume (and a fairly safe assumption I would think) that by 'The World Cup' Nielo is referring to the 'FIFA World Cup' next scheduled for 2010 (that's AD and not ten minutes past eight pm) in South Africa, then as a prediction for 2009 it is 100% accurate.

Ah yes I had thought there wasn't a World Cup until 2010 so this is one prediction where Nielo is right!!! Cheers Peter.

So much as the year 2000 then

I don't give a drat who wins the cup - I'm more interested in who is the 'chosen one' on number six of Nielos list.

As the World Cup in SA in 2010 - it might not even be held [unless SA gets their act together] - to much unrest

Nielo, about your first prediction regarding Euro-Pound, I have had the feeling for a long time that this drop in the value of the Pound was going to happen and that it was orchestrated to reach parity and then move into Euro. I know it is going to be extremely hard for the British to accept it, but I think it is inevitable. Whether this is going to help anyone....... I don't know and I don't trust the so called "gurus". Look at the mess we are in despite all of their crystal ball gazing.
As for the rest of my predictions, here we are:
USA and Cuba will start talking and we will see major changes in the Cuban regime.
There will be further horrors in the Israeli-Palestinian front.
Obama will have more problems than anticipated trying to pull out of the war zones created.
Real estate prices will keep on falling. On the positive side, it will be a buyers market.
We will all have a tough year.... but we shall survive....

The bu33ers often won't even deliver to the door. I have to drive 5km down the hill amd collect from the Comune so the driver can get home for lunch! Tom Hanks (and Wilson) would be ashamed
My predictions for the coming year:
1. The € and the £ will be at parity but the British Government will still prevaricate about joining.
2. Housing markets in the UK will continue to fall
3. Berlusconi will be charged with corrupt practices, but charges will be deferred.
4. No one will win the world cup
5. The forum will be bu99ered about with in time for Christmas 2009.
6. My ignore list will reduce by one.
Over to you, what do you see in your crystal balls?
Being an optomist I predict
1. A rally in the £ against all currencies and 2 euro to the £ by April 1
2. House prices in the UK will sprial upwards again, especially where I bought an apartment 2 years ago
3. Berlusconi will only be charged for being in possession of a dodgy barnet
4. Mugabe will get Zimbabwe to host the world cup in 2009 and they will win
5. This happened already
6. ....hard to comment on this one, unless I become abusive, which dependant on 1 and 2 above I might.
Happy new year everyone

Yes indeed... Jilly Cooper and Jackie Collins best look out now. There's real competition creeping up behind them....
Anyone know any good tales about young magicians learning their trade at school? You never know, even that might catch on and make a few bob for someone here.

That's ok. We'll let you leave the X Files posters on the wall and the Airfix spaceship models on the mantelpiece.

Don't be silly - the spaceship is made from Balsa wood - and if you want the posters - you need to pay for them! :laughs:
