The point, Noble is that Sally feels her nose has been put out of joint because Nielo has barred her from/will delete any posts she makes in the "Pets Corner" group and so has decided that if she cant beat 'em she will join 'em and bar/delete anything Nielo may want to contribute. I doubt Sally has anything much to worry about there should she decide to create this group as she probably will be the main contributor to her own group anyway.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
I have changed it to an "ordinary" Group as "Invite Ones" only stink of exclusitivety./whatever the word, Noble. It can be argued that there are a few other groups there which are covered on the main forum. At the very least It's harmless and at least now you can read the article about the dangers about stick throwing for dogs which was prevented from appearing in the Pets Group. lol
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Perhaps it is a good idea to have a Group where you can post single news, warnings, etc. without the need to open a new thread for that. For that reason, it is better to have it open to anyone and it may prove a useful tool. If it does not work.... it will not attract any interest. Nothing is lost by giving it a try.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Perhaps throwing caution to the wind I could open a new exclusive group with me as moderator (you would not like it) entitled Goose Fat and we could all have a really good moan about what really really annoys us about other peoples posts...but are too polite to say so.

Me pedantic.... :nah:
Sally, if you're going to have a dig at someone for excluding you from a particular group, the least you could do is do them the courtesy of being accurate in the nature of your complaint.
Edit:
Umm to be honest Sal actually we didnt ask so to be fair may be welcomed with open arms.

On both counts !
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
I'm not sure you have read my other thread Peterunder Forum Announcements. My complaint is a deleted thread of mine in a public group - Pets Corner is The Moderator Nielo has me on her Ignore List and theefore deleted quite an interesting thread, without reading it.
My reference to The World News Group was I know Angie's Robert wanted to participate in that one but he too is being excluded. It's a ittle bit like having hidden sub Forums. You will be relieved to hear I have no burning desire to take part in this one.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Angie true, sorry but do you really want to be part of an "elite" group??? Anyway, if you don't mind that, I just hope Nielo hasn't put you on her Ignore List and you are able to post!!! lol
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Hi All and before I get 'blacklisted'/ignored - A Happy New Year to All. Yes, it probably will be more difficult than the last but let's try not to dig ourselves deeper than absolutely necessary.
Back to first phrase,,, away for a week in lovely Barcelona (yes, loved the Dali, Guadi Picasso etc.) but nothing changes here at Italymag land, the same bickering and attempts at point scoring. If we want this forum to survive and be a worthwhile place for us to stay and others to visit let's just make a New Year's Resolution to stop this pointless behaviour. Yes, to sensible debate where other's views are respected as we would want our own even if they DIFFER.
A suggestion also that we wait a minute or two before hitting the send button on any post!! This could reduce the number of edits necessary and limit the number of apoligies needed when sensivity and respect for others was forgotten.
OK, fire away
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Glad you enjoyed your week in Barcelona - you missed the forum revamp, plus a week when - had there not been some juicy bickering there would have been...zilch!! Swings and roundabouts, smoke and mirrors, sempre la stessa cosa, toujours la meme cose, (anyone do the Deutsch)?
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Aretina, I'm glad you had a great time in Barcelona. I was there last twenty odd years ago and loved it. A Happy New Year to you too.

Strangely enough Sally, I did read it, and before I made my comment!
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Bloomin' eck! Aretina involved in a thread were people are "bickering"! What is the (forum) world coming to? We best mend our ways or before we know it - Violetta will be a cussin' 'n' a spittin' along with the rest of us!
PS. Felice anno nuovo a te Aretina.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
There are now 16 groups. Pretty soon, we won't need the rest of the Forum!
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Lisa - lets join all of them. Put the cat amongst the pigeons.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Aretina, some very wise words there. I wish that to make peace would be everyone's New Year Resolution, but I know I am dreaming....
Anyway, enjoy your stay in Barcelona although there has been some terrible weather there over the past week. Most of the beach has been destroyed. Carry some warm clothes as it is cold and windy.
Happy New Year!

Hi Gala
Lucky for me we went to Barcelona for Christmas week, 5 days of wall to wall sunshine and just a couple of showery/rainy days Sat/Sunday.
We loved it....got to see Guell Park in 'light shirt weather', Wow. Guadi, what amazing work but I do just wonder what his life must have been like, spurned twice in love and then devotes the rest of his of his life to the pursuit of beauty and the church. I read also that the Catholic church are on their way to beatifying (sp) him.
Buon Anno
Lisa - lets join all of them. Put the cat amongst the pigeons.
Some are invite only and seem pretty "cliquie". I live in Puglia, but have not been "invited" to join the Puglia group.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
I believe that diversity in opinions make a forum interesting. It enriches and benefits everyone. If there is something you don't like or are not interested in, there is no obligation for anyone to respond. Even the teasing and jokes add life to the exchanges, because this is what happens in normal life.
And I do wish that the New Year will bring us all some peace but not too much "quiet" because it would then be boring.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Some are invite only and seem pretty "cliquie". I live in Puglia, but have not been "invited" to join the Puglia group.
Well, this is where the "Invite Only" doesn't quite work. To be invited, you have to let the group creator know you are interested in joining the group rather than them searching out all possible groupees - so - send a message to Torchiarolan and ask for an invitation to join.
Failing that - create your own group - it's the latest craze. :laughs:

Moved to : Italiauncovered.co.uk
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Lets create our own group Oneto - called Anti-Attenzione - a closed group where you and I can pratice our typing speeds!
PS Have you checked for comments on your blog? :winki:
Margaret.
At the risk of seeming pedantic two questions; (a) does the moderator of said group know that you live in Puglia & (b) have you contacted Torchy to make him aware of your interest in the group?
Salute, Peter.
Edit: ^^^^ Darn, beaten to it! ^^^^
(a) Every post I make shows "location Puglia" and (b) I think the members of that group know who I am.
It was just a comment really. When something says "invitation only" then I assumed it would be rude to ask for an invitation.
PS Have you checked for comments on your blog? :winki:
Oh dear, not only is one expected to keep up with the forum, and the groups, now here's somebody mentioning comments on blogs! When will it all end!
I would like to put on record my apologies to everybody who is waiting with baited breath for a reply, a comment, a PM, a message on their profile page, an invitation to a group....or a Christmas Wish from me

Lucky for the forum, I only rarely blow and it takes some time for the pressure to build up, almost there recently with some forum members, tried the polite route - didn't work so maybe next time I'll go straight into full blown hurricane mode:winki::winki::winki:
ps JC, how the h+ll do I do quotes, I've either got dementia or am just a simple case of PICNIC!

Hi Margaret,
I think you make a good point. I saw Nielo's original posting inquiring about if people would be interested in joining a world news group and eventually sent an e-mail asking if I could join. If I hadn't seen the post I wouldn't have thought to ask about joining.
Perhaps the administration could put a little blurb with the invite only groups stating how to become a member for future inquiries.

You just hit the "Quote" button Aretina.
It's located next to the "Grazie" button - click on the quote button and it will take you to a box where you will see the quoted text. Just type in your reply under that text and then scroll down the page a bit and you will see another button called "Submit reply" click on that button and your post will appear in the thread.

Hi JC thanks.
I did that but when I wanted just part of the post and deleted the rest it just gave the HTML stuff infront and at end of message. Also why are some quotes in coloured box and others just in a semi framed white box.

You mean some are like this (below)?

And others are like this second one (again - below)?
I did that but when I wanted just part of the post and deleted the rest it just gave the HTML stuff infront and at end of message. Also why are some quotes in coloured box and others just in a semi framed white box
On the top one I did as 'jc' suggested and hit the green 'Quote' button in the bottom r/h corner of the post. That automatically transfers the whole text to your reply box. You can of course remove any part of that which is between the
signs.
But the second one I got by clicking on the Quote icon (next to the Image icon) on the toolbar. To use that you need to highlight and copy - then paste the section you wish to quote between the qote signs that appear like this:

But I'm afraid I can't tell you why they might come up on different colour backgrounds - sorry!

to see if we can "find ourselves"

I recognise myself in just about every one of those net characters!
What fun we could have if we were able to attach member names to the characters portrayed. Shame it wont happen as someone, somewhere would start whinging about feeling offended. :laughs:
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
A most interesting site, those "Flame Warriors". I really enjoyed having a quick look at it as I have little time this morning but I will go back to it. And I agree with JC, there are traits in those characters which coincide with ourselves and other regular members of the Forum. So it is very funny reading....

Hi Casa del Campanile
You should drop by more often, I rushed my breakfast to get to the end of the warrior list. Seems to be an americentric site but if the 'cap fits - wear it' Trouble is I have found so many caps I am going to need cybertherapy. JC, we could organise a private group :winki:
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
What a wonderful site, such keenly observed characters!
So easy to recognise others but perhaps a little more difficult to recognise oneself!:laughs:
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
I could always pick out your character if you like Nielo.
I'll start a thread in the Circolo - those who don't want to be a part of it - don't have to participate.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
I thought it was great fun, but to spot oneself now that as has been said is a tricky one!

See the new thread in the Circolo called "Forum Characters" - hope to see you all there.
Sorry Sally but I cannot see the point of such a group. Surely it is covered by the existing headings? Why make it something exclusive/separate that one has to join?
