11399 Paying ENEL - help!!

The phrase below appears on the ENEL site when I attempt to pay my bill by entering my BancoPoste details. The transaction seems to be 'stuck' until I take the action which the message advises. I will be immensely grateful if someone out there can tell me what it means ....

"richiedere la domiciliazione della bolletta su conto corrente e su carta di credito"

I can translate the words but I don't understand what it is I am being asked to do.

As we are not resident in Italy I can't pop into the PO (BP) to pay the bill.

It looks to me like you are being asked to set up a "standing order" or continuous payment request to either a bank account or credit card.
Doing this would enable payments in the future to automatically debited at the due date, I'd assume withou you needing to make an individual payment every time?

The phrase is suggesting that you set up a direct debit (RID) from your BancaPoste account, or from your credit card.

The trouble is, I doubt if you are able to do this online!

Alot of firms - including TIM - cannot accept foreign Visa and credit cards as they are not -domiciled - meaning that they are not registered to an Italian address. I set up a direct debit to my Visa with TIM, only for them to cancel the contract because they couldnt domicile my card which is registered in the UK, and then charge me a huge penalty for early cancellation.

.... for replies, very helpful. Sometimes the dictionary definition loses something in translation. At least I now know what is I am being asked. I filled in the forms a while back and sent them to ENEL. And I got s note on my ENEL statement which says my account is to be debited, so perhaps the fault is on ENEL's part.

Well, if Enel was telling me that "my account is to be debited", I think I would assume that I have already successfully set up a direct debit in favour of Enel! I could be wrong of course (this often happens!).

If your still having problems in making the payment and you have the pre printed payment form to hand (you can download from the enel site) and have access to the online services for Banco Poste just go into your account and click.

1) PAGAMENTI

2) COMPILA BOLLETINO

3) BOLLETINO PREMARCATO

4) Fill in the details from the pre-printed form from enel and you can make a payment just like visiting the post office.

This should give you a bit of time to sort out the problem before the next bill arrives if you have not already resolved the issue.
