11452 End of the Vine

I followed these poor vines. On there journey to where? Do you think they were uprooted and being taken off to burn or what?

I understand that there are some EU subsidies for vine uprooting. At least, they used to exist. Perhaps this was the fate of these vines.

Yes they still exist. Blog Vinexpo - Requests for EU subsidies to pull up vines pour in

Bet he's off to his mates - who will re-plant the vines, then apply for the EU 'vine uprooting subsidy' again!.

.

Possibly you are right, Alan. In Spain they do this sort of thing.... Same thing with the olive trees.

In 1982 there was tremendous earthquake in Abruzzo and there were government grants handed out to rebuild homes. Would you believe Pugliaese also applied for grants!!! lol Puglia I understand is flat!!! lol The cheek of it eh???

I'm not so sure alan h's scam works anymore - the EU (allegedly) count grant aided sheep by using satellite photography.
(I wonder if the satellite gets drowsy...!)

This type of thing happens everywhere Sal. I know of someone who was claiming social housing, disability and unemployment benefits and bought a holiday home in Italy. The cheek of it eh? :winki:
