So some of you on the forum may be aware of my terrible back ache, where did it come from?, I can pick olives for days and am OK. Well here is the theory, due to the extreme cold I purchased a pair of long johns to keep me warm, but I dont know the sizeing or something seemed to put pressure on my lower back, too tight and even after a massage it became worse. In a moment of clarity I did wonder if the ljohns might be the cause, so went without. And guess what the pain has gone. So be cautioned, Robert does think this is a very silly explaination, but be warned!:smile:

You're absolutely correct. My friend was getting buzzing pains down her legs and went to the chiropractor who asked her what she wore snowshoeing. She had on dungarees and then snowpants over them and was told that wearing too tight pants cuts off the circulation and that this is often a problem for long-haul truckers.

There seems to be a link between tight pants and lower back ache and a lot of other problems. Just do a Google search using the words "tight pants and back ache" and you will get plenty of information. I do hope your back gets better!

I totally agree. I used to wear the lycra type tight leggings and suffered dreadfully with painful legs and back. Took me a little while to come the conclusion it was the leggings. Not good for the old varicose veins either, so I'm told

I used to use a kidney belt of the type used by motor cycle riders to strap my back. don't know if the heat or the strapping was the solution but it really helped.

I wear thermal tights from M and S. Composition: 62% cotton, 28% polyamide, 8% wool and 2% elastane lycra. No problems with backache from them. I think yes better to err on the side of caution and buy one size up.

What I don't understand is that varicose veins sufferers wear hosery that has extra support, so extra lycra. They prevent DVT, Blood circulation, deep vein thrombosis, antiembolism. Do they all suffer backache instead I wonder.

For days now I have been searching for a photo/clip to post you of Ben Rumson, Paint Your Wagon (Lee Marvin) in his soiled long johns. I somehow thought it might bring some relief to your troubled back - which I hope is getting better.
