Shoosh Perse!!! Sprat probably didn't mean to have let the cat out of the bag. Sprat, if I could, I would happily give you some of mine. There are "grazies" and "grazies" lol
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Now you've got to thank all us for thanking you!:bigergrin:
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
...and if you post a reply, we can thank you all over again.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
And then, we will again thank you for such a useful post and we can go on like that ad indfinitum. Which will be very boring, indeed.

Gala is needing another one.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Seeing poor Sprats plea not only made me smile - but also made me wonder who has the most "Grazies" for one single post on the forum. I seem to remember Adriatica has been "up there" a few times - and Allan Mason - and one or two from Sancho, but this post of Sprats could break the forum record, which, if I remember correctly, currently stands at 17 Grazies.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Here's another one for you Pilch - hope it gives you a "warm glow" while you are working up in the orto. Can't get near mine 'cos it's chucking down again.

Now how are you going to tell the genuine from the sycophant or the ironic?
Also you leave yourself wide open to the manipulative, who have been known to remove their thanks, even from old posts!
Ah, Sprat, you have opened a veritable Pandora’s box here!:laughs:
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Not really Nielo - I was only thinking of the "serious" Grazies. I know this thread of Sprats is just for fun, but it's now standing at16 Grazies!
Therefore, the next person to Grazie will mean Sprats post equals the highest amount awarded on the forum and the person to Grazie after that (could be me) may hold the deciding Grazie on the outcome of who "wins" the status of the highest amount of Grazies to be awarded to a single post. Just trivial observation on my part and not meant to open any Pandoras box or cans of worms.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
It used to be possible to find all thanked posts, but I can’t seem to do so now.
Which posts are you citing as the ones with the most grazie? Because I seem to remember Ronald having quite a few once, but I can’t find it now.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Yes, Ronni has the highest amount of Grazies for a single post, but he doesn't count for two reasons;-
1. Ronni is Admin
2. Some of those Grazies could possibly have been - erm - how can I put this - erm - perhaps ever so slightly obsequious?
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
But if you start to discount obsequious grazies, what about the syndicate grazies? You know the ones where an unofficial clique of members grazie each other regardless of the usefulness of the post or the ‘I will grazie everyone in this thread except the person I don’t like’ grazie.
There are so many abuses of the grazie system that I think we can only really go on numbers alone, in which case Ronald is the holder of the title.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Ronni still cant be a part of this - even if you take your comments into consideration - simply because of reason one given above - he is Admin.
The posts I'm talking about are only 3 or 4 at most (lets say, with over 15 Grazies - for arguments sake) and they were worthwhile 'of the moment' posts.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Now, now ladies. JulianColl was right about this thread just being a piece of nonsense but you are now getting a bit over analytical. Still, Ronnie & his Forum ARE a bit like a tethered goat surrounded by grumpy Israelites with easy access to a big pile of rocks. Although the gravitational pull of this thread IS very weak there is a danger of being sucked off it into the black hole of ones own fundamentals. You could even prove GP's assertion that it could become boring; that would never do. Frighteningly, though, now she's learned that she could become a RECORD BREAKER Sprat has already emailed the Guiness Book of Records.
Pilch ;)

Pillch and Sprat I have a cd by Dido which I bought a few years ago and have only played once, which you can have if you want for free ..... Strange thing being in love!!! lol
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Is there a point to this 'thanks' malarky? Other than creating a kind of league table?????
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
It is supposed to be a quick method of showing appreciation for a post, without having to go to the lengths of posting another post to say so.
However as with most things, ingenious members have found various ways to abuse the facility.
Often the abuse is more revealing than the proper use.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
I reckon it should be relocated to The Circolo. That way we bored people can continue the fun we are having, or not. lol
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
I stand corrected - the forum record is 22 Grazies for a single post - and not one obsequious Grazie amongst them - it even got a Grazie from Ron!

In my opinion the "grazie" button is very useful when I do not wish to write a full comment. Just as you explained it Nielo.
I do not think that the number of thanks anyone receives is important and it does not necessarily reflect on the level of the contributions to the forum.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Absolutely agree with your last comment Gala - otherwise Sally would be the forum sage! :swoon:
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Sally. Re. Dido CD. Thats very kind of you but we could achieve the same result eating a spoonful of Marmite.
Grommit. Completely pointless, apart from an excuse to have a bit of crack. It's interesting reading the responses a bit of nonsense provokes.
JulianColl. If Sally is not the forum sage then who is? No, it's obvious. She has cleverly projected a persona &, human nature being what it is, everyone has taken the bait. She continues to dupe you all & soon her masterplan will unfold.
Don't think Sprat's gonna make it to 23 grazies. There is no way she'll beat Sanch: he is worshipped like a god in some quarters. Will have to let the Guiness B of R's know.
Pilch
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Aw come on Pilch, don't be so defeatist - Sprat has put up a great fight against Sanch's supremacy and is only trailing by a few Grazies. Tell you what I'll do - you hold off informing the G B of R that it was all a hoax and I'll add my Grazie to Sprats plea for love and understanding.
By the way, the forum sage could be any one of a number of characters - and I suspect Sally has no plan whatsoever to strive towards world dominance.
Sally is our forum mascot - and will remain so.
Have noticed SOME people here have been thanked far more times than they deserve. What about me? Poor little Sprat! Please love me & send me some thank yous......to upgrade my score.
Sprat
Having given this a LOT of thought I have concluded that the best way to substantially increase your thanks would be to carry on with the wonderful Fools on the Hill thread or, if you are not foolish anymore, start new thread about your unfoolish experiences.
