11618 Tour Tuscany by Vintage Car, Any Suggestions?

My 20th wedding anniversary is coming up in April and I want to surprise my wife with a special trip to Italy. As we are both car enthusiasts, I'm considering up to two weeks in Italy and want to know if any of you have ever rented a vintage car in Italy and can share your thoughts.

In researching the web I have found two possibilities. {MODERATION}Links removed

Does anyone here know of any other operators offering similar programs or can point me in any other directions? I don't have a lot of time as our anniversary is April 2 and need to make a decision quickly.

Hi,
this is a spam from the editor of the website Automotive Traveler.
we wanted to feature your link in our website,
but we didn't appreciated your post trying to trick forum members.

Yes Cristiana and when I flaged the Moderators earlier, suggesting that they remove the weblinks, I said that this was exactly what you are trying to prevent. So are we.

But the links are still there!

This is getting silly, I asked for recommendations for a restaurant In Le Marche because I was meeting friends there, the advice I got was very helpful, mentioned restaurant names etc, and I’m sure none of the posters were spammers.

There is a saying that comes to mind for occasions like this.

“ Better a guilty man go free, than hang an innocent one”

Something to think about Cristiana?
:veryconfused:

Usually when accounts are deactivated because of spam, the thread by the spammer is deleted too. Yes you are right Nielo.

Sorry, loathe as I am to disagre with you Nielo, but read again what Cristiana has written.

She says she wanted to "feature the links" but didn't like the way the now "deactivated member" tried to trick us as if it was a genuine enquiry and THAT is why she banned him. Nothing to do with the links he posted - they are good links if anyone should ever require them - it was the sly underhand way in which they were posted that annoyed her.

That'll teach him! Che furba Cristiana - e brava!

Not sure on Cristina's point, but to me is advertising & goes. Simple.

When all is said and done .................its still
Chopped pork shoulder meat with ham meat added.
Salt (for binding, flavour, and firmness)
Water (to help in mixing)
Sugar (for flavour)
Sodium Nitrite (for colour and as a preservative)

Hi,
thanks for removing the links, I would have done it today.
As soon as I read that message and checked the links, I realized the man just wanted to trick us.

Again, you, Members can act as you want and decide whether to follow my recommendations or not.

Buona giornata e divertitevi pure a dare consigli!

Cristiana

I take your point Tusk - but.. (isn't there always a "but"?)

If I had put those exact same links in one of my posts, then it would not have been considered advertising - it would have been a "helpful suggestion" or, if I had personally used the "service" then it would have been a "recommendation" and therefore, acceptable and wouldn't be deleted. Fine.

If someone posts links to their own services, then that is considered advertising - I accept and agree with that - but - we have always understood it to be OK to gently advertise your own services and use an underline signature if you have become a regular contributor to the forum, which is also fine!

Where the problem lies is when is it considered someone has become a regular - and more importantly what (if anything) is to be done about those regulars (and there are a few) who now only post with thinly veiled messages in order to self promote?

Removing the links above seemed wasteful in a way - as they could possibly be useful to someone in the future and especially as the member has now been banned, what difference would it have made to allow them to stay in this instance because it's not as if he could continue on "tricking" us with further posts - is it?

Hope I'm explaining myself clearly.

PS When were Mods granted the power to overide Admin? Nice to see anarchy rules at last!

Jake, you *are* coming through loud & clear. IMHO, if the links were in the auto signature ie acceptable blatant avertising, then I'd be fine......but I felt that case was different. I recognise that in other circumstances, the links would have been acceptable, but I felt a line was crossed, so I canned them.

Is it anarchy if we both agree & would have taken the same action?

I'll change my profile image from Flashman to Kropotkin now :)

Brilliant! So is this where I get to challenge your authorrity Tusky babe? We really must stop Russian around each other and crack open a few of the family Faberge eggs sometime soon!

So…….
If I had a member name like ‘Sansa’ and started a thread about ‘Heating with a sansa boiler’ and had links to my business selling Sansa boilers, would that be OK…or not?

Depends Nielo - if it was Cristiana you would be decapitated but the links would be allowed to remain, however, if it was Tusk - well.. you'd get blown outta the water with a Scud missile and mashed to a pulp if you stepped over his line.

I'm trembling already. :laughs:

Can we have some hush for a minute please.

This situation poses some interesting questions.

On the one hand, I would question the credibility of the original poster and their information, on the basis that they have lied to us. Can we trust anything else they say at the end of their link? i.e therfore it is of no use to members.

Trouble is, I have not seen the link so cannot know if it was useful or not.

I am (unusually) wobbling a bit on the fence here because, I don't know whether admin/moderators, in thier valuable role, are 'protecting' me from spam/advertising, OR whether I should be given all the information to make up my own mind.

In this instance it is neither one nor the other. i.e. we either delete it as spam or we give the full links and information so at least I can make up my own mind.

And Nielo if you start talking about boilers you won't get any 'grazies' from me.

If a regular member includes a link which is or may be considered as commercial to his/her signature, it is perfectly fine with me. And I think that the fact that I do not have any commercial associations makes me an independent judge. I have found some of these links useful as you tend to trust people who are in contact with you through the forum.
I believe that this particular case was very cheeky and I agree with the action taken, but it did show great ingenuity at a time of crisis.

I was just about to check the registration of these two domains to see if indeed they are by the same person and therefore spam, but they have been deleted now.

As I said yesterday this whole thread should be deleted as has been with similar cases when a new member's account has been deactivated.
