11634 Electric radiant heat

Has anyone in Le Marche had experience with under floor electric radiant heat in a small traditional dwelling - both initial cost and cost of operation?

Depending on the size of the house, this should give you a basic calculation. It only relates to UK electricity prices though. Best to forget it!!!

Just to clarify on the "best to forget it" quote.

At 10 sq mtrs of heating you need 1.5Kw of supply (based on the calculation of 150w per sq mtr) Therefore if you have 50Sq Mtrs to heat, you need available 7.5Kw + the normal needs of lighting etc.
The basis of the running costs in the quotation, was based on UK prices @ 8 pence per Kw, here it is best to triple that figure to get a better idea, plus in winter months you could expect possibly 12 hrs operating time.
Calculations were based on UK building Regs regarding insulation levels, for eco friendly houses, so another factor to consider.
Hope this helps.

I am in complete agreement with geotherm. The current cost in the UK is 12p/Kw less 10% just recently in Italy it is ~0,216€/Kw so near double. Of course installation and capital costs are smaller but after the initial honeymoon the running costs just eat up your money.

The calculations are the same independent of the method of production in a well insulated house about 35/55watts per m2 and for italian houses 150w/m2 if it stops there.
