According to an ad in the EYP (English Yellow Pages) there is an English speaking newspaper in Florence called "The Florentine" - copies can be downloaded at [url=http://www.theflorentine.net]The Florentine - The English speaking local newspaper in Florence[/url] Hope this helps and good luck to him!

Absolutely, we love the Florentine, so interesting, so informative, well written with some seriously good pieces on art. Current edition (it's bi-weekly) includes an interview with the outgoing British Consul who is retiring after 7 years (can you imagine? what a job! what an office!) in Firenze. You can subscribe too, we have friends in Washington for whom the arrival of the Florentine is the highlight of their life.
