11712 expat newspaper or website in Firenze ?

In Rome there is a newspaper with website called Wanted in Rome and it has accommodation to let and jobs advertised. My son wants to spend the Summer in Firenze (he spent last summer doing pub crawls in Barcelona but now wants to practise his Italian)
Does anyone with links in the Firenze area know of publications which may advertise accommodation and jobs (for students or gap yearers) or any useful websites?Cheers
(ps I've never started a thread before so I hope this works out)

Well done!!! Try this organisation - WWOOF - World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms - "In return for volunteer help, WWOOF hosts offer food, accommodation and opportunities to learn about organic lifestyles. A couple I know in Italy did this twice, a few months at a time there.

Also try both http://www.expats.com the Italy section and Welcome to English Yellow Pages for Italy - your guide to English-speaking businesses and professionals You can also place free adverts there.

There are supposed to be two Florence publications in the list. Have a look.

According to an ad in the EYP (English Yellow Pages) there is an English speaking newspaper in Florence called "The Florentine" - copies can be downloaded at The Florentine - The English speaking local newspaper in Florence Hope this helps and good luck to him!

Interesting article on how the paper began

.

Absolutely, we love the Florentine, so interesting, so informative, well written with some seriously good pieces on art. Current edition (it's bi-weekly) includes an interview with the outgoing British Consul who is retiring after 7 years (can you imagine? what a job! what an office!) in Firenze. You can subscribe too, we have friends in Washington for whom the arrival of the Florentine is the highlight of their life.

This would be tailor made for you - there's not a lot you don't know about Italy and what you don't know about - you know a man (Google) who does!

Cheeky Girl, Carole. Actually I was just about to click on the link!!! lol I'd be very good, having had to exercise my diplomatic skills here! for almost three years!!! lol However I don't know much about Italy, having not lived there as you really know, so maybe I could insist they appoint you as my Personal Assistant as part of the contract!!! lol lol lol
