11838 Wine Talk Group?

Anybody out there interested in a wine talk group. I have worked 20 years in the UK wine trade and know the subject well. Until recently I have run a small wine agency business, which has fallen victim to the economic downturn though, so this is not meant to be a self advertising group. I just thought it might be interesting to hear of any bargains anyone has found in their local supermarket, any special wine events someone may know about, talk about that special bottle of vintage Sassicaia you may have drunk, recommendations for enoteche or restaurants with a particularly well stocked wine list or you are looking for a particular wine and want to know where to get hold of it. I can answer technical questions too.

Let us know and I’ll set it up if there’s sufficient interest.

This sounds like the sort of Group where I would read with great interest, but I doubt I could contribute a great deal (other than sampling suggestions). My wine education came from drinking Blue Nun and Mateus Rose! If theat qualifies, I'm in.

Good idea, you always learn something new.

Hi Helen,
When I first saw your name on these pages I thought you may be an old aquaintance of mine, a Helen who was on the same year as me on the Master of Wine course. She, unlike me, completed the course successfully and is now an official 'MW'. But that's clearly not you. And Persephone, I'm also setting up a wine tasting group in the Lunigiana, so maybe we can educate your palate a bit :winki:!

Anyway I'll set up this weekend I think

Ok I've set up the group and called it Cork Talk. Looking forward to your contributions.

I am only a master of DRINKING wine- alas!

I'm also interested.

I'm a bit of an enthusiastic novice with Italian wines, but my father in law, who hails from Tuscany, has worked in the licensing trade in some way for most of his years in the UK and is just about to retire (again)!

Do join us Stu. The group is called Cork Talk. You don't need to be an expert.
