11826 STOP! Eleven threads are too many!

I don't fly anywhere anymore so I have no axe to grind here at all. But I'm not stupid enough to think that companies like Ryanair, easyJet, BMI etc. don't provide a valuable, affordable service. But having said that, it does seem to me that a cheap (inexpensive) flight at the prices some of these companies offer must be a godsend for many with homes and/or families here in Italy.

It has to be understandable that some of the practices of 'certain' airlines do tend to create bad feelings, and quite a lot of hilarity, each time they come up with their latest wheeze to milk their passengers - by hook or by crook - of the last drop of thier precious blood.

But at the end of the day - so what? We're not talking about 'long haul' flights are we? If I could find a way to travel to the UK - any way - where I could save maybe 90% of a standard airline fare - then I say 'bring it on!'

It is also sensible to be aware when there are 'special offers' or when there are new regulations... after all 'forewarned is forearmed - right'? But even more sensible is to let others know if a new wheeze/fiddle or 'special' is in the offing.

What IS a pain in the butt is that this information is currently spread over no less (if I've counted correctly) than ELEVEN THREADS on the Travel Holiday and Advice Forum...(and one or tqo elsewhere I'm sure....)! No wonder people get sick and tired of the subject and fall into poking fun at some company practices, posts, points of view... I imagine that many members see the word *yan*ir and just 'turn off'... I know I do, and I don't even fly!

So, a 'suggestion'. Can't we just have ONE ONGOING THREAD which is only for:

"Flight Information TO and FROM Italy"

No groups. Anyone can join in. Everyone can access the thread - in other words it becomes a forum/thread that will provide the latest information available on budget flights IN ONE PLACE FOR ALL MEMBERS on the Italy Mag forums!

No - what I said was:

Sorry are there any threads regarding BA?If not do I need to start one. It's just our May flight all the first class seats are taken and I refuse to pay £900 return to be seated next to "The great unwashed"

That would be the whole point PAS 55 - with just ONE thread about 'FLIGHT INFORMATION to and from Italy' all airlines, budget or not, could/should be included!

That was the whole point of the Group. ONE PLACE to discuss Ryanair, It is open to ALL MEMBERS and was visible to ALL MEMBERS until one decided that the group was not for them and started answering group posts in the forum.

We all know who the culprit is. The person who can ruin anything on this forum!!!lol

So there is one place for EVERYONE to discuss RYANAIR but we also all know who will refuse to use it. I am happy to hand the group over to anyone else who wants it. its all yours

I think that some of us may be getting a little paranoid about people not using the Group[s] [This is not a 'dig' at anyone in particular]

I don't like the Groups for a couple of reasons

1. They do not [on my screen] come up with the general listing of Forums - so I can't see, without going into another screen, whether there are any new postings
2. The do not [I think] run as threads - they seem to be a single date listing of entries
3. I believe that they will never be read by as many people as the Forum - look at the viewing numbers for each thread

In respect of the Ryanair Group- I don't think it fulfills what I believe to be the purpose of a Group - to allow like minded people to discuss matters of specific mutual interest, away from the Forums - [like the one on pets]. Rather, to me, it appears to be a Group set up to take discussions on Ryanair away from the Forums, because some people are unhappy about the amount of space Ryanair take up in the Forums

However, the Ryanair threads are of general interest to many many members - look at the number of viewings on those threads, and so I feel that they, and any relevant 'new' Ryanair threads, deserve to remain on the Travel and/or General Chat Forums.

.

I personally find the enless threads on Ryan Air here totally and mind-numbingly boring .If anyone bought a house in Italy on the understanding that they'd be able to jump on a 99p flight anytime they fancy then they must be incredibly dim.

There are so many things to discuss that are of interest to all of us so why waste all this time on Ryan Air?????

All this whingeing about Ryanair drives me mad - you pays your money and you takes your choice. Perhaps the collective memory is too short - remember the days before Freddie Laker, when only the rich could fly? Ryanair provides a service - and to quote that horrible ad - it does what it says on the tin. There are no hidden charges - so if you want to board first, last or somewhere in the middle you can make an informed choice at the point of booking, as long as you have the IQ of a child to read the website, (something that most passengers in the check in queue seem to have failed to do). The planes are safe - and compared to the unlamented Danair - relatively comfortable. What more do people want? There is no constitutional right to cheap air travel - it is a business. If O'Leary turns your stomach (Probably because he is wildly successful) then dont give him any more money and fly with someone else, but put us out of our misery and create an anti Ryanair site. (Gets down from soap box and apologises for talking yest again about Ryanair - never again I promise))

I like RyanAir- good value for money. But a friend mailed me this and I thought it was cute:

The Irish airline Ryanair is contemplating a wee change. It wants to charge passengers for weeing.

The wee fee raises many questions:

Will it be strictly per person, or might passengers enjoy a double-occupancy discount? What about a family plan?

Will tissue be free, or will you have to buy it by the square, and can you BYO?

Will, say, a No. 2 cost more than a simple No. 1?

And will there be a time limit, because I have to tell you, if I'm paying $1.43 I'm bringing the Sunday New York Times in there with me.

Before anyone gets the wrong end of the stick - I think that was MEANT to be funny - and it is......

Thanks Noma

But THIS should beat the 'loo' and the carry-on luggage problem in one fell swoop!
Eat your heart out O'Weary!
