Where to start, eh?
Firstly, get hold of some guide books from your local library. Buy one (or more) that you like the look of.
Secondly, search on the internet - just type "Sardinia" and "tourist guide" in. You will be amazed at the available information.
And, don't forget your umbrella...

I have been living in the North of Sardinia for a couple of years and love every minute of it. If I was coming here for a couple of months I would probably base myself up North. A lot of tourists tend to go to Alghero it is a lovely town with all the facilities of restaurants, shops, supermarkets etc, although personally I find Alghero a little expensive and a bit too touristic!! perhaps go a little further away from the Airport. We live 45 minutes away in a very Italian (Sardinian town), we still have all the facilities of bars/shops/supermarkets and both the beach and countryside are on our door step. There is hardly any tourisum here so therefore prices are much more reasonable and you certainly get the true Sardinian experience.
With regards to places to visit in the North must be Stintino with the fantastic Pellosa beach, Medieval towns of Castelsardo and Bosa, Island of Madalena. There are some very good Roman ruins in the South near Cagliari. We have a home in the South of the island near to Muravera and we have enjoyed quite good weather when we have gone there in the winter months- last xmas was 21 degrees,and last March whilst travelling to Alghero we left glorious sunshine and encountered snow on the way. Of course it is not sunbathing weather (unless you are brave enough) but it is very pleasant. You also have the towns of Muravera, San Vito, Villasimius (which is very nice) Cagliari and there will be a few festivals going on. There are loads of great beaches in our are Costa Rei, Punta molentis, Colostrai and feraxi and this year we ventured down to Chia which is superb and great fun for the children even in the winter months.
Of course as you will be spending 2 months there you will have great opportunity to visit mst of the island

I am going to Sardinia-next Monday from France to Porto Torres-with items for a couple of friends who have taken the decision to live there. I have space in my van-should anyone need anything taken down. I return to France on the 30 October-and the van space is available should anyone need items taken back-contribution to fuel appreciated-but not necessary.
If someone wants a seat in the van and they can make a booking in time the seats are free-just good company would be the price!!

I'm jealous! I can't give any detailed advice on Sardinia, but considering the period of the year when you will be there, I'd be looking for something south facing and out of the prevailing wind.
