515 National Insurance/Pension Contributions

Hi

We are moving to Northern Tuscany after twenty five years of the 9 to 5. I have heard that the Department of Works and Pensions have a form that enables those moving overseas to continue with their National Insurance contributions to keep their UK state pension ticking over.

I've scoured the DWP and Inland Revenue websites and waited on permanently unavailable phonelines with no success -

a. has anyone heard of the above form? and,
b. is there an online form available?

Grateful for any advice

Dave

We have a copy of booklet SA29 issued by the UK Benefits Agency. Admittedly it is now a few years old but it clearly says it is possible to pay Voluntary Contributions into the UK National Insurance scheme if living in an EU country. There are various conditions depending on circumstances so it would be worth while tracking down a copy of the booklet. They do not give details re a form, but it does state that if you wish to pay voluntary contributions into the UK NI scheme to write to the Contributions Agency asap. The address given is:
Contributions Agency
International Services
Department of Social Security
Longbenton
Newcastle upon Tyne
NE98 1YX
They also give a number for the International Services Helpline:
Tel: 0645 154811
Fax: 0645 157800

Hopefully they will be able to clarify the situation.
Good luck
