556 would this be a good investment?

We are thinking of buying an apartment in a development near the village of Borgo di Colleoni in Tuscany (known by the same name). These apartments have been converted from a palazzo and estate, there is a small new build of villas too. You can also buy off plan too. It would be so useful to have an independent view of whether this is a sensible move or not. Does anybody out there know of this development?

Property Sales/Rental Advice

We looked in that area last year - Palaia - lovely little village very quite and traditional. There were some rumbles around the locals about too many english coming to the area - especially at the Borgo Colleli who were offering cheap weekends.

Since then a number of larger derelict/ruins properties have been purchased in the area for development into appartments. I can also direct you through private email to a website that has alot of derelict/ruins property for sale in the area.

Be wary about buying off plan, an Italian friend recently related a horror story to me about the original developer of a project going bankrupt, his brother in law taking the project over, those people with reserved plots then had to re negotiate their purchase, losing all money already paid and at a higher price than previously agreed. Be careful.

Fine if that is the sort of place you fancy but it will not be the real Italy?
Come a little further south to Lazio and surround yourself with Italians?
