Thanks George - I don't want to get chucked off - just wanted to know if there is a better method of selling a property than with our local agents!

Sorry Sally, it was a flippant day yesterday... I think the answer is to spread the net as wide as you can, errrm, folks use different methods to search, but, the cost of using agents can be astronomical, what is needed is a low cost website to advertise homes for sale, but, then, it would have to be marketed well and would have to show up early in Google searches... We nedd a computer Whizz kid maybe...

We have found the best way to visit the area you want to buy in & stay for a few weeks and just talk to the locals.
Whilst looking at UK agents is 'safe' you run the risk of inflated prices & overlook the joy of looking locally & dealing with locals direct.
Enjoy the search!

Hi tuscanhills, - thanks for your reply but we want to sell. We modernised a little town house last year to be ready for holiday rentals but now we've changed our minds and wish to release the capitol to 'get on' with our own house. There seems to be an endless stream of dreamers and tyre-kickers who want something to do whilst on holiday and say - hey, lets see whats for sale locally....

You could always try a 'private sale' entry in the 'Homes' section of Sunday newspaperes like the Times, Observer etc, or in the Homes & Gardens section of the London 'Evening Standard'.
I think they can be done 'on line' in most cases

'The Lady' is also an interesting place to advertise- weekly on Tuesday and full on properties to rent abroad and a few for sale.

Heyup John, with all of latoca's expertise, you might at least expect a .it at the end of the website, and, an addy other than glasgow???. LOL, I saw another post recently from someone coming over in October, and, asking pretty basic questions, yet their signature site waxed lyrically about having "professionals on the ground" etc., you can just imagine the reply to someone wanting assistance NOW, errrr, well, can you ask again in November, we errr, misled you on our site...
Happy days, when's it gonna rain..... just a little bit...
I used the internet search before visiting route, but, perhaps the best way all round would be to put 2 or 3 posts on this site, mentioning the fact that you have a property to rent / sell (95,000 wasn't it)) you should get a few enquiries before the moderators notice ;) ;) ;) :)
