775 Italian Primary Schools

I'm afraid I may know the answer to my question, but perhaps someone could confirm.

Is it correct that primary schools in Italy, only have a September intake, even though you may move to the area during say October?

If you move house/area in England you can start a new school at anytime during the school year. So if Italian schools only allow a September start, this must cause Italian residents a nightmare if they move some distance within Italy.

If this is right, do you think a emotional plea to the commune would be worth while, saying how sorry we were that Roberto Baggio missed that crucial penalty against Brazil all those years ago.

I think that you are right, schools only take pupils from september. If you move in Italy the school organizes your move as well contacting the new school and sort of "transferring" the subscription.
So you should contact the school you would like to send your children to and ask them what documents your school in england would need to supply... does this help?

We moved in May and my daughter has not been allowed to start school till september. We were told even if we moved in October we wouldn't be able to start till September. We delayed our move until the summer partly for this reason.

well i think you will find this might well depend on the commune and also how you approach things... we arrived in our house dec 18th and our son was at school on the 19th... and has been their ever since...rules here are made to be bent...approach the school...see if they have room and it will all go forward from there
