837 Hi from California

Hi I'm Peggy from California - I just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. I'm not sure how I got so lucky and stumbled upon this website, but I did and so happy it happened.

I was in Italy in April, Northern, my first time, Venezia, Firenze, Roma, with a lot of little side trips. I loved every minute, every single minute. I cried in the Rome airport knowing I had to come home. Anyway, not too much about me, just wanted to say hi, better get back to work :(

Take care and have a great day.

Peggy

Hi Peggy,

Welcome! and say hello to California

Hi Peggy, glad you like the place. I think that's something all of us share. I've actually envied the American tourists in Firenze, so many of them seem to speak excellent Italian. BTW, are you trying to start a war? Describing Rome as Northern Italy would have Romans and Milanese both shouting at you. :)

Sorry about North Italy and including Roma - I get so excited about Italy in the first place that I just run together with my thoughts of what a wonderful time I had. I keep dreaming about it, thinking about it all the time. I should have been an Italian!!!!! In my heart :p

In Italy some people say that everything under the river Po is south. That is a joke, and a bad one, but I would say that Toscana is in the centre and the south starts from south of Rome.

But hopefully nobady gets offended anymore, we are all italians.

Well, roughly sort of, and perhaps. I wouldn't create a seating plan for dinner that had someone from Pescara, Chieti and L'Aquila sitting close to each other.

I wanted to say hello. You are the first person from the States I saw on this forum. Do you know if there is any information for Americans wanting to buy in Italy. Most of it is for the our good friends in the EU. Maybe some other people can help me find information on the procedure to buy in Italy.

Salve,
John

There is a website called expats in italy http://www.expatsinitaly.com/ which may have some useful info for you.

Hi John,

Yes, I'm from the US. To make it worse or better (I think better) I'm from California - Southern. I don't know of anyone (personally) who has bought a place in Italy. I really, really, really want to (that was Southern California writing all the way!), maybe one day I will have that opportunity. Everyone is so helpful and nice on these posts - I'm not that computer literate so I may not be calling it the right thing, but there is so much help on this site that someone will be able to help you and hopefully me in the near future. I love reading all the post in all the forums very interesting, very amusing at times. I love this site.

Take care, I must get back to work to save my pennies to live in Italy. I do have lots of questions about buying a place and one day when I have time I would love to ask all of my questions. It does seem like a really long process and expensive - but well worth it.

Peggy

Thank you for getting back to me. This forum is very useful. I hope to go back next year in May to the Puglia region. I would like to go to an italian school to learn the language better. Io parlo italiano un po. I would like to move there but I heard there are no jobs there and it is tough for an American to work and move there. There is a lot of red tape to stay in Italy for a long time if you are an American. But if there is a will there is a way.
Well got to go back to work.

Salve,
John :)
