No, but watch out for their excess and uninsured losses charges. Most rental companies will charge the unfortunate hirer around EUR 1000 for any damage to the vehicle. Damage above this value is insured, but if you are unlucky enough to have a prang your wallet can feel the pinch.
We nearly fell foul of this a few years ago when Pescara was hit by hailstones this size of golfballs. It smashed our hire car so that it looked like a giant golf ball - full of dimples. The hire company initially tried to blame us for the damage and it was only when we produced newspaper reports of the weather conditions that they relented. But just to be sure, they tok the EUR 1000 from my credit card while they argued, nice chaps. Not.

Dear D65 (don't you often get mistaken for a French country road?)
Yes, I agree with you BTW, we've been using the company you gave a link for ever since the hailstone incident. Peace of mind for £49 a year.

Hi,
We have been out and rented a car on dozens of occasions now, varying from a day to a couple of weeks. Tried all the biggies and a couple of obscure ones too!
About a year ago I found these people "www.tigercarrental.com" who have proved excellent on every occasion.
They are a broker and usually put us with Hertz or Budget depending if we fly to Roma or Pescara.
They are always cheaper than the hire companies direct and EVERYTHING is included. Yes, no collision excess, no theft excess, no limited mileage etc etc.
The only thing we have to pay is the Italian road tax which works out at a euro or so a day but I think this is the same with all rental companies.
Just to let you all know that I don't have any connection to them, just had good service that's all!
