Went to Alghero a couple of years ago, if you get a chance go and see Neptunes grotto, you can go by boat or if you're realy energetic drive to the top of the cliffs and walk down, very steep steps built into the cliff-face. Also some lovely beaches out side of Alghero.
We thoroughly enjoyed it.

[QUOTE=olasveita]Hi,
we're going to Sardegna in August/September, staying in a rental appartment at Costa Paradiso. Does anyone have any tips on beaches away from the crowd, autentic restaurants where no tourists go (!) and fantastic places to visit? What is the weather like in early September?
Grazie in anticipo.

You'll have a great time, i'm sure. I'm afraid I don't know the north at all (my wife is from Barbagia - in the centre - so that's tended to be where we've hung out during the summer and christmas). The Island is beautiful and the people really, really welcoming.
If you can find one, then try a traditional Sardinian restaurant. They serve wild boar, mountain goat (and donkey!) and tend not to have menus as such. It's more a case of they tell you what they have and you sat 'yes' or 'no' depending on what you fancy. Anyway, they're usually really relaxed places and always good fun. I can thoroughly recommend the donkey, suprisingly tender and tasty...!
lotaresco is right, the weather will be nice and not too hot in September. The north has got a bit busier in the last few years given the amount of people Ryan Air have facilitated in getting to the Island, but I don't think it's too crazy just yet.
Hope you have a great time
Russ
p.s. Latoca, good to hear about the honeymoon...and CONGRATULATIONS
I think you will find the weather pleasant in September. A friend recommended the north side of the island for escape from the madding crowd but that was a few years ago. I'm not sure how it is at present.
