999 Ads by Gooooooogle

I have noticed the addition of adverts at the bottom of pages on the forum. I don't mind them as they are unobtrustive & I just ignore them (OK, from the fact that I'm posting a message about them might imply that I have not ignored them!).

I do note, however that the adverts attune themselves to the content of the page on which they appear. Due to the diversity of the postings, it's (almost) interesting to see which keywords they pick up on within the body of the pages.

I'm salivating to see which keywords will be plucked from this posting(!)

well I never....just had to go back to my last post and see what came up as I was talking about rain and sausages ( unrelated !!)

The ads were U.S.Cavalry, Rain Ponchos,Steel Rain Chains and Cycling & Bike Clothing...I think that is so clever ...last 3 all relate to rain and I assume the U.S. Cavalry eat sausages!!!!....I won't be able to take my eyes off the ads now !!!!! Bang goes the olive harvest and the bread making !!!

I'm glad you've brought it up. I've wanted to but then I didn't want to come across as a moaner but those ads basically get on my waz (nerves).

That one at the top does as well for the solicitors. I thought there was a separate section for trade adverts and the solicitors ad pushes the anouncement for the festival across, and I don't know about anybody else, but all I get now is a wine glass (which I like looking at) and the letters IT.

There now I feel much better for getting that of my chest. :D

Ciao for now

Paula

I reckon the US Cavalry relates to you being a Senator and others being equestrian

how tempting to put in all sorts of words just to see what comes up

haggis ... neckerchief ... tiddlywinks...

Got Norton Internet Security so no ads for me. :)

Is it freebie thing we just download, or do you buy a package thingy. Can you tell I'm computer literate.

Sorry Paula, you have to buy it but you can try before you buy - click the following strange link

The thing I find amusing is that sometimes there are more that two o's in google!!

Methinks its a Google adwords thing - they sort of work out what people are talking about and then sprinkle links about that folk might find interesting.

I really hate it but just completely ignore it - and would NEVER click on one of them on principle!!

(Having said that it will probably generate revenue for Italymag for anyone who does go there via the links so I shouldn't protest so strongly...)

Lesley

So what comes up when you put in haggis, neckerchief and tiddlywinks ?

Hi
I've got Norton (anti-virus and Firewall) how come I get all the ads then !!!! MInd you the ads don't bother me, didn't even notice them 'til this post started !!!!!!.......just curious...i'm not at all techy so probably haven't set it right !

Just had to add this .....had hysterics..look at ads for this post and there is an Equestrian Clinic in Brazil in the ads....very useful !!!...do you think they could put me right !!!!!

Assuming the latest version of NIS make sure you have ad blocking enabled from the anti-spam settings. You may also need to add the word "googlesyndication" to the list of ad urls to block.
