I'll never forget May last year - had a 14 hour [overnight] long thunderstorm charging around the mountains surrounding Lake Orta, where our house is.
The gutters overflowed under the amount of water coming down - then filled up, and blocked the downppipes with hailstones.
Many short lived power cuts as ENEL failed to cope with lightning 'strikes' [I had to unplug the microwave as it 'beeped' every time th epower came on - it was driving us mad]
Still - at least I found that the roof was watertight!

We had loads of lightning last night, storm startd at 1am and stopped around 4-30 but the gentle rain continued up till about ten minutes ago, now the sun is out, with that lovely damp smell in the air, mind you the road has taken another hammering, I really must go down to the Comune and get them to fix it (Maybe tomorrow  )
domani , domani

You can't waste good sun and booze time going to the boring ole commune.
Our electric goes off every time Alex uses the pump from the well to the water tank. The first time it happened I said 'all know-it - all like '...oh they have loads of power cuts in Italy !!!!
After about an hour he went to electric box ( no I don't know proper name for it !!!) and flicked the switch...it was us not ENEL...needless to say , he doesn't take a blind bit of notice of my words of wisdom anymore. He is now quite used to me shouting out the front door 'Alex turn the pump off...I want to put the kettle on '......and George don't you dare ask 'on what !!!?'
Weather really overcast and wind strong...no rain...is a storm coming do you think ..or just a drop of rain ?????

See here, it's all but passed, a little more wind and cloud and it'll be back to the Sun and sweating for a living. :)

A&L, wouldn't dream of asking, think you need a whistling gas one like what I've got...
WI, please forgive me, have had some security problems with my machine recently after viewing stuff sent by someone on board, sure yours good, but, not willing to take risk :)

GeorgeS, I understand your hesitation but it is just a link to uk.weather.com website (You can check if you hover your mouse over the link and look at your status bar at the bottom of your browser, assuming your status bar is enabled which it should always be for security reasons as it shows if a page is secure and you can check links in advance like I have explained).
If you have had problems from simply clicking on a link in the past then you really should invest in some firewall, virus and pop-up protection, no point in ruining your online experience because your afraid your going to get a virus every time you visit a website.
Google's tool-bar has a good pop-up killer and is free.
If your running windows XP make sure it is up to date from the windows update website, especially any service packs, the latest XP has a good built-in firewall, make sure this is enabled, and get yourself a good virus checker.
If you want an all in one solution then I would heartily recommend Norton internet security although you might want to wait just a little bit longer for there latest version to be released.
Great weather site

Just escaped from Colditz to walk the mutt and give it ( sorry her !) some exercise . Had to climb over our own wall as drive still not dry..not too easy with dog on lead , ball, bottle of water and my hankie ...Alex had car keys !!
Lost ball and we have some really large raindrops for about 5 seconds ...that was it !! Happy dog tho'
Will get myself a gas kettle...what a good idea...you're quite bright really aren't you George..why didn't I think of that !!!!! AND you still haven't confirmed if you really have 7 dogs....bit of a 'porky' was it ????

WI, thanks for info. already firewalled up thanks, problem not from clicking a link, from stuff sent, not happy about it, am very anal about the comp's security, but, Hey Ho, live and let live etc.,
Lyn, Low tech sometimes best, train dog to jump, throw ball over wall, tell stay, then climb over and "fetch" (or, use the method my dogs prefer, let them off the lead, before you can get the ball, they're off, stand on top of the wall screaming threats as they disappear into the middle distance, put your hands in your pocket, whistle, walk back to the house)

There is no need for that and if you have a personal message you should use the PERSONAL message option and not PUBLIC message.
GET A LIFE!

Perhaps your imature attitude says it all if Alex and Lyn didn't keep in touch. You must have left a lasting impresion. and you've certainly embarased yourself if its not the same couple.
I have to giggle though

It's all a bit much, eh? I do note one bit of advice from Rob in a previous thread:
Learn to say NO, and walk away.
......is that a good enough definition of hoisted on your own petard?

Ohhh Bottom, I missed it all, any way, I love you all (well, maybe love too strong, maybe not EVERYONE, but, ohh.) AND, the sun is shining again, lucky cause the antique tractor show is on tonight, and tomorrow, apparently, there will be a contortionism display by Miss Rimini Bikini 2005, errrrrm :o
Watch out, last night here in Sardinia we had sheet lightening, it looked awesome as I looked from my balcony over the Cagliari valley to the sea beyond to see lots of sheet lightening streaking across the sky.
