1036 Australian looking to make friends in Italy

Well my Italian is very poor as I've only had two lessons so far. I thought that perhaps I had not any responses because the site was mostly for English people who perhaps have not been enjoying the cricket.
Anyway thanks for the response. I'll hold out some hope that a native Italian speaker with a wish to visit Oz one day will see myposting and might be interested in exchanging Italian for English (Australian version) emails and we could both improve our skills! I'm not sure if I even have the technical abilities for online chatting!!
Where abouts do you guys live ???

Good luck with your Italian. sure you will some nice friendly person on this forum who is native speaking and willing to practice English and Italian with you.
We live in Northern Lazio near Viterbo. Sorry we do not really follow the cricket!

Some of the clothes might appeal, but I don't think many Italians would be terrifically interested... Anyway, these Antipodean chaps, anybody other than me think they've got it all wrong with sport ???. I mean, I feel that they DELIBERATELY send more skillful chaps than the one's they are going to play... SO, where's the sport in that ??? where's the simple joy of taking part???. How often can they claim to have won the "Moral victory" we English are so fond of winning....... Ohhh, there needs to be a new emoticon, with a handlebar moustache and monocle please. :D

I've just moved to Italy for a 1 year transfer and I recommend hiring out DVDs and changing the audio into Italian and the subtitles into English. It helped me.

I speak very basic Italian; however once the Italian language schools open from their summer break (around Sept/Oct), I shall start.
