Just to apply for residency and find a job.

Congrats Kirsten...where are you ???

Good Luck with the Job..what do you do ?...just interested ..not nosey !!!

Let us know how you get on.

Hope Husbands turns up soon (read your other post about them having lost his..!!..)

We definately got things done a bit quicker here in Puglia, perhaps not so many 'immigrants' here ?!

P di S . in a month and hopefully residency the same ( we go back for official residency in 2 weeks )

I am in Fano/Pesaro and in the Uk worked with children in nurseries. I'm happy to do most things but as I have 2 children of my own I have to fit it around them. I think I may have found work teaching English in Pesaro mornings only. Crossing my fingers for this.

Pesaro used to be one of our favorite places for holiday s in the 70s..one of the reasons my husband wanted to come to Italy permanently when he retired. Property was over our price-range tho'...still we love it in Puglia.

I'm not so keen on Pesaro but the prefer just outside and Fano myself. Pearo is far more popular though. You are near Urbino if I remember correctly aren't you?

I applied for my residency on Wednesday and on Thursday the policeman came to check I had my doorbell. YES. I am officially a resident, I can by a car, I can go to the doctor, My children can go to school. I am a very happy bunny.

we are still waiting for the Police to come !!! Hope it doesn't hold residency up as we are due back at Commune in 2 weeks to pick up official stuff !!!

We are 1 km from San vito dei Normanni in Puglia ( wasn't sure if you were talking to me or George !!! )
Lyn

Just up the road from hopefully our little Trullo, so want to be there too. :(

Kirsten, were you serious about door bell ( I can be quite gullible !!!!), 'cos ours doesn't work and house is quite a way from our gates, so if police came in late evening, we probably wouldn't know !!!!

If you are in part of a larger house, they'll check your boordell, if you have a gate they'll beep... ;)

Errrrm Helloo, It's August, ohh, was that a beep ????, no, just the heat making the gate squeek. Remember that song, "Might as well wait until September" :D

;) I was about 15 when that song was out.......ah young love !!!!!
Forgot about August but we are going to pick up actual residency documents a week tomorrow !!!!!! ..and that is August...doesn't look too hopeful does it !!!! :(

Alex was pulled over by the 'fuzz' the other day and he panicked a bit a said 'sono inglese' and they waved him on with a smile ....just a tip !!!!

Anyway why weren't they at my house checking us out....oh I forgot we were out !!!!.. ....in case you wondered , just woke up from siesta ..fell asleep outside...not a good idea for me brain !!!!...off to check out the August Action tonight !!!!!
Anything exciting happening in other aresas this weekend.

We've got an antique market, food and a young fellah by the name ofLucca Lattanzio tonight, an old motorbike and sidecar show tomorrow and an accordion band, song dance and theatre on Monday evening and on Tuesdat Fiera Mercato kids games all afternoon and latin american and smooth dancing in the evening, all with stands gastronomici, apart from that, not much... :)

Blkimey...you'll be exhausted from all that activity...are you going to any of it ?????????????

Have no idea what is on in our town...just going to go and hope...think most things round here seem to be Monday....Ostuni looks good on Monday....haven't heard an accordian yet or a mandolin, except Alexs' feeble attempts to master the art...he plays guitar reasonably well , so I thought he'd be trilling away in no time...apparantly not that easy !!!!

Yes I was serious about the doorbell. Its the law in this area to get residency you have to have a doorbell........I don't have one and lucky the policeman asked me rather than looked and I just said yes.

Also when I applied for residency they asked me when (what time not day) I wanted the policeman to come. I said before 10. He arrived and 9.40. Perfect.

A&L, Whaddyamean "any" of it, we don't have to have a doorbell here to stay, BUT, you have to attend at least 87,446% of all festa's or they deport you, it must be true, a bloke in the bar told me.
K. You're lucky, we had a car full of Carabinieri appear one morning to check we were in, and, :D , as the grapes were just about ready to pick, and, none of them had actually ever tried the "little strawberry" grapes in front of the house, errrrrm,....Actually they were lovely, only asked to taste them, had to be forced to take a couple of bunches back for the lads, I wonder if they made it..

well...we chose the wrong night !!!! Programme said ..children dancing...thought ' oh good country dancing etc !!!@...WRONG...loads of little girls in their petticoats ( well they looked like it ) prancing about all over the place...BLESS !!!

Lovely in the square tho' ..very authentic...San Vito dei Normanni is not at all touristy...just locals pasiggiaring ......very old square... couple of stalls selling beans ( yes beans !!) and sweets -lovely Campari and Soda siting outside bar ...had a wander then home to the ole plantation and the pining dog
who got left behind !!

Still haven't heard accordian or mandolin...oh well - there's always tonight and tomorrow. :)
;) Forgot about August but we are going to pick up actual residency documents a week tomorrow !!!!!! ..and that is August...doesn't look too hopeful does it
Do you mean your PdiS or actually going and getting the certificato di residenza (or something else)? If the former, don't worry as it wont change your residency, if the latter, before they can complete your application they have to pay you a visit (oh they will leave a note in case you are not in). They are pretty good about this and no they don't stop doing this during August. I got residency in August once. When I applied they said that they would come by within 30 days to check that I lived there and on the 29th day they showed up.

Oh no, no doorbell, you will go to the burning fire ;)

:D or, worse than that...deportation back to dear old blighty  , AND, take the dog with you next time, then you can have 2 Campari soda's and acquire a reputation as a scarlet woman.

You rottten lot !!!!! ;)

Have told Alex to fix door bell .....or else...just in case !!!!!

Actually, a couple of weeks ago, the police were at next doors house . Alex hovered ( as you do !!) to see if they had the wrong house but they just said 'Buona Sera' and smiled ( nice chaps he said ). Would they be asking our neighbours about us do you think ? ( Glad you're not my neighbour George or we would have been deported by now -joke !!!! :D )
We get on really well with these neighbours and they know we are here permanently so have no worries about what they might say....haven't liked to ask them about police tho' in case it was personal and they haven't volunteered anything ......just wondered if the police would check us out this way !

2 hours after original part of this message......bell now working !!!!!!...BUT the 'ringer' is outside on the verandah ...can't hear it in house !!!!!!!

Happy Ferragosta to everyone....the sun is shining and the church bells are ringing ...what more could we ask :)

When the policeman came I had had a late night the night before and was still in my dressing gown. I inviting him in to the paperwork and just as he sat down my 3 year old came in the kitchen with no clothes on (he had taken them off in the night) and hard willy wanting a cuddle because he had just got up. I was glad he still registered me......

He's an Italian, they understand those sort of things ;) Just had a thought, that may be why your husbands papers have errm, "disappeared" ;) :) ;)

George, thank you I hadn't thought of that. Now the policeman has seen the family jewels possibly the PDS will turn up....

No, I suspect Hubby will be deported, then you will have the commiseration visit in the "Full dress uniform", so if you see a guy approaching with big feathers sticking out of his hat.......
