Quite honestly i wouldn't bother the forum with these things when you get here just go into any bar and see the posters up,look at the notice boards in the piazza,go to any tourist office and you'll be overwhelmed by the number of (minor) events taking place in your village and all those around and doing so you'll get to know your neighbours people in the village and surroundings you may even be suprised to find that some (few) younger people even speak a bit of english....they've even started asking where to park in this forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What started off as a simple question by a member concerned about paying for a pay and display parking spot during his stay in Ostuni (could have been a costly holiday) ended with various members participating in informing other interested members places to visit and stay in the area. some of which I have personally noted for my next visit. :)

Quite agree. Plus, I got a new website to look at during my lunch hour out of it...

Sebastiano, la dolce vita has clearly made you grumpy... have another glass of the red stuff and let members ask what they want ;)

Can anyone help me, I wish to bring 425 assorted camper vans to the beautiful town of Smerillo for the chestnut festa in October, can anyone suggest a suitable car park ??? (forgive me :p ), also, is there anywhere nearby which would be welcoming and, have damned fine food at a very reasonable cost ??? :D

I think the wine may be a little to readily available in Francavilla D'Ete... :p

Sounds like a fun festival.... ;)

It is an amazing festival, and the wine there is free ALL DAY... the only problem is that anyone who owns a camper van descends on the area and a sweet little town becomes an enormous caravan park, then around 2000 cars per day come in too, and Sebastiano can't move, however, as he has one of the nicest set ups in the area, he shouldn't need to... :D

I can't believe you come to the Smerillo Chestnut festa and miss the Montefalcone one! ;)

It's on 8/9 October and had over 10,000 visitors last year. If you've ever been to Montefalcone you would know that is quite some feat as it's pretty titchy.

One of the nicest festas (in my opinion) is the cinema festival in Smerillo. It was on last Sunday and is open air with one of those brass 1930's style projectors. It goes all through the night with various meals served at various points (including breakfast for the last film the next morning!).

I drive through montefalcone fairly regularly, so would probably have picked up on it... :)
