1186 A new italian enthusiast!

Hello there! my name is Jan and I have finally plucked up the courage to join the forum. I'm loving everything italian at the moment I fell inlove with it all two years ago and have crammed in many trips to Rome, Florence, Naples, Bologna, Venice etc... - and just got back from 5 fantastic weeks in the bel paese. I'm desparately trying to improve my italian - I hope to take a GCSE next year and eventually move to italy ... my friends all think I'm a bit mad... is there anyone out there who understands my plight?

Darn it, that one gets this weeks award for the finest post Will, hats off, beautifully executed, subtle... WILL,YOU RULE yuhhhhhh... :D

It's newbie again, just writing to say that its great to get instant responses! it makes me feel happy to be part of a new community of italianphiles? (not sure what the correct word is) now a quick question... can someone recommend me an oilve oil that doesn't cost a fortune - am a poor student which will make my pasta taste like it does in italy.... grazie mille;)

There is a producer of superb Olive Oil from the Teramo area who is regularly on this forum I am certain that a plea direct to Lotaresco's heart will elicit a couple of gallons, or litres, whatever they use these days... :)

Hi

I too am in love with everything Italian! I have always loved the country and since meeting my partner 8 years ago (he was born in London to Italian parents), I have been more in love with the place than ever...

I too have thought about the GCSE and even attempted it a few years back,,,alas, work got in the way and I never got into it!

I am thinking about it again though..any thoughts on who I could do this through?

I totally understand your plight by the way...I will get there one day also!

Good luck with your studies...

Karen

Jan welcome - Italia what a great place to be in love with.

Will, you made me laugh out loud. I've made some sort of an impression on you I can tell :p

I'm going to my first Son's of Italy meeting next Wednesday to find a nice Italian man to help me to learn how to speak Italian! There is a local chapter here, that one of my friends attend with her parents. I've very excited!

Jan welcome again - everyone have a great weekend. It is nice in San Diego today - wow! Makes it difficult to be in doors behind a desk today.

Ciao Ciao Peggy aka Sweetpeg ;)

Sweetpeg,

Itis lovely to meet you- been away for a fewdays but would be very interested tohear all but your first son's of italy meeting. Iam trying to italianize my daily life with listening to language tapes and trying to remeber vocabulary but its useless.when I do meet some italians I am too shy to speak! I hope joining the Forum will help me to keep up my goal and live my dream!
