What are the rental prices like in Italy now?We would probably get away with a 2 bed apartment as our kids are still young.
Also i'd like information on schooling for my kids who are 5 and 2 would be appreciated.
We have always been very cautious in our approach to change and this is a dramtic one for us.This would be a long term venture resulting in(hopefully) a permanant move.Are we being over cautious do you think?

What does a rental cost in the uk?? it's the same sort of question.
My friend in Milano who has two tiny children was spending more on renting than they would have paying a mortgage,about Euro 1.100 per month excluding all utilities over 5 years ago! if as George says you are looking at the south/rural areas this could be more than halved but the problem of employment is inverted.In Milano and most of the north there's lots of work
but high prices,urbanisation,pollution etc.In rural areas lower prices bur few services and little work.The children are the least of your worries if they are small,they'll be speaking fluently in 3 months and will adapt easily.At a junior or infant level even in rural areas schools pay a lot of attention to the integration of new kids from outside.So i'd say that possible employment/work should remain the priority.

Agree totally with Sebastiono and George - that the rent will depend completely on where you decide to go. Work has to be the priority. Try to do as much research as possible. All the big cities have their free weekly newspapers which are available online, so you could check out the work situation in general. Once you have decided on a specific area workwise you could check out rental prices in the surrounding countryside, as it would obviously be cheaper to compute a short distance than rent in a large town or city.

Mainland Italy is a big area :) it might be easier to help you if you mentioned the particular area, and naturally whether you would prefer rural or town location...
