I would be interested too. We went to open an account but they told us they couldn't pay any of our bills by direct bebit except the electic so we didn't bother. I believe from what they said that they hope to be able to in the future

We pay our phone bill and sky by direct debit through BancaPosta. There is also a standing order for my car payment going out from there

I went on-line to register and it bought up what looked like an application form for an account...started to fill it out but thunderstorm knocked out system so lost it all....but it didn't give me a joint a/c option...can you ahve a joint account with the Post Office. ?...and can you actually apply for the a/c on the internet or do you have to go into the Post Office ( horrendous queues in ours )

Yes you can have a joint account (As I have one) but I dont know if it is available to apply for it online.

Where did you get your Sky from.?..haven't seen anyone selling it in San Vito, Puglia...anyone in this area got it ?...please let me know where from ....thanks

You can subscribe online from www.skytv.it

Hi,
Sorry if i'm coming over thick tonight but a bit tired trying to pay taxes and bills which no-one seems to be bothered about except me  !!!!...

don't know much about Sky as we had ntl cable in Uk....anyway...can we get most stations in English ?
Have ploughed thru' site but can't find answer :o
Can you simply apply on-line...what about installation...we don't have an address (post goes to post office )...just trying to get it up and running a.s.a.p.

Many of the channels are available with english audio like fox and fox life, many of the sky movies if they originally had an english audio tracks allow you to watch with the original audio, but if it is an "italian" channel then it will normally only be in italian but thats a good excuse to begin learning isn't it. You also get english only channels like BBC prime, BBC World, Sky News and a few others.

Yes apply online and if you choose the satellite option i think an installer will visit otherwise if you already have a dish pointed to the hotbird satellite (As many italians do) then you can just choose the box and subscription option and then they just send it by courier and you have to plug it in.

thanks so much for info Sam.......as I speak Italian ( albeit ..not perfectly !) I have now found after speaking it most of the day I want to switch off when I am relaxing so would welcome some English TV...we have loads of multi -lingual films etc on dvd but don't always want to watch a whole film in the evenings...just an hour or so ....and winter is looming !!!!!!

Will try and get it from their site.....once again thanks for being really helpful... :)

Lyn,

If you drive on the road from Ostuni just as you get into Caravignio, just after the the second (I think) set of traffic lights, on right hand side there is an electrical shop advertising satalite systems.

Paula

cheers paula, We'll pop in next time we go to the garden centre ( probably tomorrow as I need some rampicanti ...just bought an arch  ...
.......no, George NOT the Arch de Triomphe !!!!!...(and I know I've spelt in wrong !!!) ;)

We have found Banco Posta to have a lot of advantages!

First of all when at the post office you have a "fast lane" for people with a Banco Posta, look out for a second less busy lane and the till with a yellow "bancoposta" sticker on.

Second, is the cheapest bank account you can have in Italy. The other major banks charge you more, in Italy you pay a yearly fee to have a bank account!!

you can set up direct debit and standing orders.
