1079 Suggestions for Football Teams

With a plan to relocate to Abruzzo/Marche, what football team can I start to follow?

Being a supporter of Aston Villa, but living in Devon I no longer go to any games, so I don't mind if the football team is some distance away, but I don't want to be supporting the top successful teams as I enjoy a little misery on a Saturday afternoon!! ;)

I did think about Sampdoria, due to a chap called David Platt ex Aston Villa and England, played and managed Sampdoria for a time. (Do you remember his goal against Belguim in the last few minutes of the game, I nearly wet myself)?

Any suggestions?

My Italian friend supports Atalanta - he always seems to be miserable after they've played

If you want to remain miserable, stay supporting England(!)

......sorry, I prefer rugby (not that this gives me much to be happy about at a national level)

Supporting Atalanta he deserves all the misery the world can put on him :D

I suggest to look for your most local team once you move - though that Said I am sure you would be welcomed with open arms at the Rigamonti !!!:D

If you want to plump Serie A - Bologna or Udinese are sides Gaurenteed to give you that Aston Villa feeling

My husband and his family support Fiorentina, not much to celbrate there either!

Susi

If you move to le marche you must support ascoli-it"s the law.If you go to abruzzo there is pescara-their fans were great at ascoli despite losing in localish derby
Where is david platt now?
Please don"t support the team from san benedetto-everyone has a limit to how much misery they can cope with!

My dad supports our local team and he seems to get more out of that that a bigger more successful team. He has made so many friends through it. Maybe this would be a good way for you to meet the locals? To be honest I don't follow football this is just an observation I've made.

He managed Nottingham Forest for a few years from 1999 to 2001 and then in 2004 he was managing the England Under-21s. I'm not sure where he is now.

Thanks all. Local football it will be and I'll take it from there. I do enjoy local football in Devon, watching not playing, makes it more interesting if you know someone who plays for them.

Rigamonti sounds a great team to follow, although it would help if I knew where it was!!

I believe David Platt was ousted from the England U21 set up, not sure what he is doing now. He was original from Chadderton near Oldham so perhaps he's working at one of the cotton mills, if they're still in operation?

:D :D Rigamonti = Stadio Rigamonti the home ofthe mighty Brescia - no where near Abruzzo or Marche though i am afraid and also stuck in Serie B this season

Try Fiorentina.
Mighty are the fallen.
Beautiful city, wonderful people, a team with a great tradition now languishing near the tail end of God knows where. The Fiorenteninians know a thing or two about misery, post game. Beautiful stadium though.
Viva Antonioni.

Y not get Sky Sports and continue to follow Villa. I know when I move to Marche I will continue to support my beloved Arsenal! :D

Hate to admit it Ian being a Siena fan but Fiorentina look set for a better season this time round. Not sure they are good enough to challenge for the scudetto quite yet but a place in Europe should not be beyond them, if Udinese can make it to the champions league then why not Fiorentina. Speaking of beautiful stadiums i have to say the setting for the stadium is Siena takes some beating, if the football is boring you can gaze up at that beautiful city skyline :) . FORZA ROBUR, FORZA SIENA

Thanks for that Will. Nah, we'll be ok. Weve got some decent youngsters coming thro.
reckon you could get the 1.30 from ancona to stansted, change at tottenham hale for victoria line, then picadilly line and just about make a 4.pm ko.....
Better still, get off at Tottenham Hale or Seven Sisters on the Vic Line, walk up Tottenham High Road to White Hart Lane and watch a far better team!
A team that, unlike Arsenal, could have beaten Chelsea but were instead beaten by a stupid refereeing decision early in the game. :)

Newcastle United - the shirt doubles for Juventus - can't be bad!!

Technically that should be Notts County. Juventus got their first stripes form Nottingham having previously played in.... PINK!

And there, I'm afraid, the similarity ends....
