1229 apartment for £50k

 My girlfreind and I would like to buy an appartment in an Italian city or town, not so much as an investment more somewhere to visit regulary and learn Italian and make Italian freinds. Our budget is up to £50,000. Is this being optimistic, we are not looking for anything fantastic and we're not afraid of decorating and some DIY.No real preferences to area but we like Parma,Bologna,Pavia and Piedmont area(Alessandria).

Probably possible, or, maybe not, depends really, you could check with agents or something, or, maybe visit, decide on an area you can afford to buy in...

I can only talk about the area we know about, but I'm sure that it is possible. We bought our house last year for a little more than this figure and it only needed painting.
This was a good price for a 3 bedroom house, but it is out of the way a little. (just outside Farindola, Abruzzo)
I'm told that there are properties in the village for less than we paid, perhaps.
Not sure if this is an area you would consider - It's not touristy and very little English is spoken.

Thanks for the reply.Looking at agents and starting to favour Marche more.

This Region is a beautiful one, but to maximise your budget, it might be better to decide the particular area in le Marche, then try to make contacts locally with the smaller agencies already here, where are you thinking about within Le Marche ?

GeorgeS I like the look of Urbino but property prices seem more favourable in the Macerato and Ascoli Piceno areas. Basically we are loking for a small apartment in a town or large thriving village.Anty ideas. So far I've seen lots of nice little country houses etc but no appartments in town/village centres.

I live just under Macerata, I will see if I can pick up the property paper from the supermarket and send you the local agency details if you like, look at the map around Monte granaro, Monte S. Giusto, Monte Giorgio type of places, also, presume you would like to have relatively easy access to the coast :)
will re post Tuesday after shopping. www.le-marche/marche/ will give you more info. on the area too.

I was reading on of the local advertisment papers and surprisingly there were various appartments just outside of Fabriano that cost between 50 - 80.000,00 Eur.
What size house or appartment do you need?

Thanks GeorgeS,Macerato sounds like a good bet.I'm looking for a 1 or 2 bed appartment or small town house.

Hi Duegusto
Macerata is a very good zone.
Remember that the coastal area is expensive (new houses in Porto Recanati are about €. 3.000 x sm), but you could find a lot of opportunities in the inner part, even not so far from the sea.
There are many little non touristic and nice towns, like Montelupone, Potenza Picena, Recanati etc.

Hi,

We have a large county house in the Metauro valley, just to the west of Urbino (about 8 miles), near Ubania (about 3 miles) and closest to Peglio (about 1 mile). we have five apartments in the property and are willing to speak about these. If your are interested in a part-year, or holiday accomodation, this could be ideal. Please PM response.

I can't recommend any of these agencies, just sending them to you as a resource, if you want a glossary of Italian terminology, drop me a PM.
Good Luck.
:)

Thanks for everyone's advice. I'm looking through all the information and weighing up all the pros and cons of the different area and then i think it will be a case of getting on a plane and having a good look around all the different areas.
Of the regional airports in Marche and Abruzzo which are served all year round by flights from the uk.

Ryanair service from stansted to Ancona and Pescara seems to be pretty steady all year with flights into and out every day, you really need to check what leaves your local airport and their service I 'spose...

Hi, we have bought a couple of properties in the Lecce province, both in the countryside and in town. We have now forged links with some estate agents and could assist you in your search. There is a vast choice within your budget. If you are interested, you can drop me a line at santo@apulia2005.com. Ciao.
