1115 Bulbs

To all the Percy Throwers out there.
Having lifted and dried a large quantity of bulbs, daffs, crocus, snowdrops etc. We would like to take these with us to Italy (Abruzzo). I have read on this forum about people taking plants with them so can I assume taking bulbs will be ok.
My main concerns are, do you think they will survive life in Italy and also as we can't complete the house purchase until about march it means the bulbs will not be planted until autumn '06 I would think that they should survive being kept dry & in the dark.
Comments please, even comments like - don't bother - are acceptable.

I can't see any major problems either, although I might be tempted to get them into the ground in March, just make sure they're clean, dry and dark when stored.

Any DFRA limitations to taking out plants? I have several bread trays full of lovely things to bring in my van and dont want to be stopped at customs? All are clean and well looked after. Hope they will like Italy.... Janet

when do the bulbs go on sale here...keeping my eyes peeled as i want loads......nothing down in Puglia yet

If you pack them in a box in straw or dried sphagnum moss they should keep well enough for a year or two in a cool, dry place. Alternatively, you could always grow them on in pots while you are waiting for your garden to be ready.

Congrats on becoming a paediatrician BTW, do you have regular markets down there, most of the bulbs i've bought were from the markets, and, pretty sure they're around most of the year, but, I could be wrong...
