Fiorentina's Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo and Cagliari's Uruguayan defender Diego Lopez on Tuesday received five-game bans for sparking a post-match scuffle after Fiorentina's 2-1 home win against the Sardinians Saturday.
The ban means the South American pair will only be eligible for the last two games of the Serie A season.
Serie A's disciplinary panel also came down hard on Roma's France defender Philippe Mexes and Lazio's Brazilian midfielder Matuzalem, both given maximum three-day bans after being red-carded after a tussle in Lazio's 4-2 derby win Saturday.
