11160 Prehistoric terms.

Can anyone help me with some prehistoric terms?
[I]il Paleolitico medio (Età della Pietra, 120.000-40.000 anni fa)......[/I]
and
[I]Paleolitico superiore (40.000-10.000 anni fa[/I])
My questions:
Do we say mid and superior Palaeolithic Age or do we just say the Stone Age?
Are the numbers right? My dictionary says million years - have I lost something,I thought 3 0s meant thousands.
and lastly :
[I]Età Mesolitica, (10.000-6.500 anni fa)[/I] - again, what's with the numbers?

The Stone Age (Età della Pietra) is divided into three periods Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic - and so, are correct dependant on context. I cant explain the "000's" as anything but thousands - and obviously incorrect, but to see the text may help. Can you paste the text here?

'ooos are roughly correct - Mesolithic was about 20.000 years ago to 10.000 years ago

Paleolithic was 2.000.000 to 20.000 years ago

All dates are approx - and vary a bit from scholar to scholar [which I ain't]

L’uomo del Paleolitico superiore (40.000-10.000 anni fa) frequentava il fondovalle dove l’acqua era disponibile, oppure le zone montane in siti riparati compresi tra i 1000-1500 metri di quota. Nell’Età Mesolitica, periodo di transizione tra l’Era Glaciale e il Neolitico (10.000-6.500 anni fa)
