11480 Using the Correct Smiley

I was just about to go off on a rant on something I've read on another thread, but instead, took a step back to reflect and I'm pleased I did.

" The smile is a very important feature of the human face. But because of human intelligence, even that good part of human nature can be used in the wrong way, such as sarcastic smiles or diplomatic smile, which only serve to create suspicion. I feel that a genuine, affectionate smile is very important in our day to day lives. How one creates that smile largely depends on one's own attitude. It is illogical to expect smiles from others if one does not smile oneself. Therefore, one can see that many things depend on one's own behaviour. "

We have to do the best we can with the smilies we have available Ghianda - I use the "Big Grin" smiley a lot - to show perhaps what I post is "tongue in cheek" or not to be taken in a personal way. It's very difficult to express non verbally and without facial expression exactly the "tone of voice" you really want others to understand.

I am sure that some people may see my use of the "Big Grin" smiley as me "taking the p*ss" - and I am sometimes - but not always.
