11093 Telecom

Hi all,
I have received a "contocorrente postale" bill from Telecom Italia that indicates that their account number is 5009.
When I go to pay from BancoPoste I got a message indicating that 5009 does not match Telecom Italia.
So I called Telecom (from Florida) and was switched to 187 and finally got a person who clarified that 5009 is only good if the payment is made at the Post office - and suggested I try 872002. Well, 872002 doesn't work either.
Does anyone out there know what account number works for online payments to Telecom??

We pay our telecom bill online using a UK visa card, go to 187.it and sign up for an account, its normally at the centre of the page, and its quiet simple to do, even for a non speaker like me. The tricky part is the password, I tried several before I realised that they wanted a symbol somewhere in there, rather than just letters and numbers.............from the sign up you can pay, check your account and buy other services , really handy ................good luck

deborahandricky,
Have you paid with a UK visa card recently? I used to be able to use my UK barclaycard online to pay Telecom Italia and Enel etc but haven't been able to do so lately.
I even applied for an Italian Barclaycard but the last time (just a couple of weeks ago) that I tried to buy a Voip phone online at the TI website I got a message to say that my card was not acceptable as it had not been issued by an Italian company (although it was issued in Milan and I have used it without incident elsewehere).

Maybe it's just me 8-(

I wish I had known about the option to pay Telecom by credit card - at least I could have earned some frequent flier miles.
Despite the fact that I'm in Italy only one or two months a year, we've been paying Telecom every month so that when we were there, we would have DSL access. And we've been making the payments by automatic debit from our Italian bank account. But it has been OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive! And finally, in October, we decided to close our Telecom account altogether and in the future rely on our cell phones and WiFis or Cyber cafes.
So this bill that I referred to in my last message should be the "final" closing bill. So really I just want to pay it and try to forget what a bad service Telecom has been.
It's great to see Italy slowly entering the 21st century!:laughs:
Thanks for your suggestion.

Go to your bank in the USA, ask them to make a cheque in euros for the amount owed indicating Telecom Italy as payee and post it to them. It is going to take them quite a lot of time and inconvenience to cash it, but it will serve them right for not making things easier for customers. We did that with a provider in France (I think it was for the TV license) who sent us a bill well after we sold our house there and we had closed our bank account in that country. They did not complain and had to accept it.

That's a great idea! I called the director of the Post Office where I have a BancoPoste account. She said she would research the matter and get back to me by email. Now that really would be a miracle!
I like this group!

Hi I have paid my electric and telephone using a UK credit card, but now Enel say on their site that they only except cards issued in Italy. Trying to pay my telecom bill today they said they were unable to verify the payment try again later, so I hope they don't do the same as its very convient.

Check if the companies you want to pay will accept payments by PayPal. It's easy to open your own PayPal account. We have paid Italian bills using this method, including the Italian train company when buying tickets ahead of time.

Yesterday I put in a call to the director of the Post Office where I have my bank account. I finally managed to speak to her and she promised she would call telecom herself and get their PostaGiro account number. That in itself gave me a sense that I had the problem resolved . . .
BUT
Today when I called her, she said she had tried but was unable to get through to Telecom herself! Isn't that typical. She did indicate that Telecom was having some technical difficulties and that they were causing disruptions nationally.
I could have told her that. That's just the telecom status quo:smile:!
Oh, by the way I did get through to Telecom and after waiting for ever (longdistance of course) I did get a guy who promised to email me the answer. However I doubt very much that I'll ever hear from him . . . .
O bella Italia!!
Might just as well laugh it off with a good bottle of vino.

Since I have been here I have ended up having to drink quite a few bottles of vino for the same reasons !!!

Enjoy !!
