...rather than buy a huge number of adaptors, get a UK 'gang socket' that will take 4 or 6 UK plugs and then connect the socket to the all with one adaptor.
You may experience the electricity tripping out though.

If you do that - remember the current limit of the adapter [usually 7.5 amps I think] - a better solution is to take the 13A plug off of the asocket lead and replace it with an italian plug - this will give a safer installation, especially with high current equipment

Hi
Alex here and this is my first posting (Lyn has hogged it all this time.
She's the one with the ideas and I'm the one with the hammer, screwdiver and sweat).
We brought everything that was in working order in the UK and tried them all out. We have put Italian plugs on most things using Italiam multiblok connectors where necessary.
We already had a number of UK multibloks to which we have attached Italian plugs. This is particularly useful when using UK battery chargers or AC adaptors etc.
Kym.... Your TV etc should all work fine out here. ours do. The information in the signal etc was standardised a few years ago. We have an old style CRT TV and when we selected autotune it asked me which country we were in. On selecting Italy, it promptly tuned in 40 stations. A number of these were duplicates or poor quality reception but we still have about 15 with good to excellent signals. Our Video and DVD also work as well as in the UK.
If you want to continue to receive Uk stations you could take a SKY satelite set with you and point it at the relevant satelite. We have seen this working over here.

Forgot to mention...you can test your autotune on your TV before you come to make sure that it asks you what country. This should be in your installation menu. Hope this helps :)
Electrical Items UK
Can any one tell me if it is worth taking all my uk electrial items with me to Italy and using the adaptors. Or should I take them all to the car boot on sunday and start again. veg steamers microwaves etc
Have things like dyson washing machine Fridges tvs dvds etc will they work out there or is it best to sell the lot?
Personally and differently from the previous answers i would tend to sell everything there and get it new here (maybe keeping the tv as its quite an important one
Mmmmm-sorry Sebastiano I disagree

We got rid of a lot of stuff before we came, including a 3 piece suite which I now really regret as it would have been ideal in our 'extra little house'.
Unless you have a bottomless pit of money, you will be amazed at how the cost of the things mounts up. If you need your money to do up the property ( ours was purely cosmetic, and the money just poured out !).....you will be glad you hung on to a lot of stuff at least to tide you over. Also once the delivery van arrives from Uk...you have the lot ready to install and use !-believe me after 3 weeks with just a bed and a wooden table and bench..that was heaven !!
I would love to have bought all new Italian furniture but that just isn't going to happen, so we are hoping to buy a few choice pieces when all the work is done.
If in doubt, just go on a few web-sites and add up the costs of your essentials ( fridge, washing machine, dishwasher, toaster, kettle -by the way we have only found one kettle in Puglia...so far we are on our second as first one broke after 3 months and we had lost receipt !)
