Cristiana, thank you very much. Very useful (although we have already missed the Milan exhibition for this year!!!)

I have been to the Bologna ArteFiera, it is well worth a visit if you enjoy modern, contemporary art. It's more about private galleries promoting themselves than individual artists but there is a LOT to see. Also a good excuse to see Bologna.

On a very much smaller scale, in Sarzana (SP), usually first two weeks of August is The Calandriniana. I'm afraid the website still shows lasts years info. not this year's: CALANDRINIANA

In one of the squares a selected group of (15) artists build huge canvases and then over a period of two weeks you can watch them work. The finished artworks are put up for sale in an auction at the end of the event. Sarzana holds a huge antiques fair at the same time, so plenty to see.
