1281 Flower Festival - Pallanza

About 5 years ago, at around this time of year, we were holidaying at Pallanza by Lake Maggiore where we were lucky enough to see the "festival of flowers" that I assume is held every year at this time. There were a dozen or so large floats, each representing a different european country, with national icons on a very large scale made out of tens of thousands of flower heads fixed to a wire framework. Britain was represented by a large cup of tea, a bowler hat, telephone kiosk etc. France had a replica of the Eifel tower (about 30 feet tall), Germany - VW beetle, glass of lager; Spain - flamenco dancer and so on and so on. Anyway, it was spectacular, complete with marching bands and an enormous fire work display afterwards. If you are anywhere near Lake Maggiore it is well worth the visit.

-I use it to check the weather when I'm going out to my place nearby, [actually, I look at it every day - so I can see a bit of the lake]

Do tell - what did Ireland get represented as?

(I am thinking a Shamrock, Guinness, and a teenager with a baby in a stroller...)
