1343 Foxes versus Cats

Just had a thought. (Thanks George - chickens/foxes/rats)

I'll be bringing my siamese with me to Puglia and hadn't considered danger from foxes. We inherited her as a stray when we arrived in Spain and couldn't abandon her now.

No foxes beachside here (well unless you count the foxy lookin' guys on the gay and nudist beach nearby :D )

Is there a problem keeping small animals in Puglia and if so, any suggestions please?

Can't imagine keeping foxes and cats apart would be anymore challenging in Puglia than in the UK/Eire/Spain. So long as the cat has the benefit of escape from a marauding fox there should be no issues there.

Point taken thanks. She's a whizz at climbing trees when the occasional dog has chased her. I've been looking things up on the web and a site recommended that if it's a real problem i.e. LOADS of foxes we could put in a motion sensor system that activates a water jet.

Effective and humane.

given the Italian penchance for shooting anything that moves hopefully foxes will not be a real problem in the area you are moving to.

see my post of a while back re; are there any animals in Puglia ??? Never seen a fox, or a horse, or a sheep etc , lizards are only about 2 inches long, etc. etc. etc.

Plenty of dogs tho' !!! ..including ours !

I have to agree Lyn. I was really struck but a seeming absence of wildlife . Our villa ,is in a really rural spot and apart from insects there wasn't much. We did have a snake in the garden but that moved house when we moved in !! Maybe it's got something to do with the two marauding children we drag around with us !! Any wildlife probably ran a mile at the sight of them !!
