I was just talking to someone in Venice whose street level rooms are currently under water. Weather bad all over Italy though. We've had winds that I thought would lift the roof off this morning, torrential rain and eratic electricity supply all day.

Beautiful here today Violetta!, blue sky lots of sun (no doubt our turn will come!)

We've had probably our worst storm overnight, drifts of hail, amazing thunder and lightning and very strong winds. Luckily one of the six ropes holding the tarpaulin covering the woodpile held so at first light able to go out and recover the wood.

Vaz, our black lab. normally spends his storm times in the kitchen (after his Valerian treatment) but last night he was under our bed!! Felt like joining him at one point. Like Violetta the electricty was very erratic and has continued so this morning.

Hoping for a quieter night tonight.

Me too but am not optimistic judging by what's coming over the mountains towards us right now. Angie studying various forecasts, it appears to be the western side of central Italy that's suffering the most at present so you may remain storm free still.

On the 8.00 news tonight they showed at least 18" of water in St Marks Sq.

Stribs, I think that went up quite a bit later on. 1.60m supposedly? Some of the better pictures I've seen this morning were on the telegraph's site above.

This is a realy funny bit of video, clearly filmed after the water had retreated a bit!

Watch to to the end though - the fashion mannequins in hastily improvised wellies in the shop displays are a sight to behold!

Excellent! I saw the guy surfing on the news the other night, didn't see the mannequins before though. We were in Venice November 2005 for hubby's 50th, I realise how lucky we were with the weather now!
