Non Italians in Le Marche

I don't know how many there are but feel that numbers are insufficient to warrant any business venture.
Having said that, there is an English bookshop, which also sells art and dvds that is opening in Sarnano (MC) on Thursday morning 22 January (This is also market day) and then every Friday, Saturday and Sunday
I was wondering if anyone may be able to help me. I'm trying to find out how many foreigners have a property in le marche, well more importantly English speaking NON Italians, but the latter may be more difficult to find out. This is in order to find out if a possible project might be viable or not. Im having trouble knowing where start. If anyone has any good ideas, It would be much appreciated. Ciao for now.
I would have thought that to have an accurate idea of English speaking non-Italians in Le Marche would be pretty difficult if not impossible to establish. Aside from the obvious mother tongue speakers (UK, USA etc) there are bound to be other nationalities who can also speak English.
Are you interested in those here permanently, those with holiday homes or both? What sort of project are you considering? I woule tend to agree with Damiano. Even if there are sufficient potential customers they are probably scattered throughout the region and may not have need of / interest in what you are proposing! I may be wrong but I suspect that many of those who made the move to Le Marche did so in the knowledge that English speaking businesses are few and far between and this was actually of no concern to them!
PS: The vast majority of my patients are Italian (95%), so am speaking from experience!!!

Would you care to tell us what the project is Daniel?, then possibly we could advise, or even be a customer of yours!.

Thanks juliancoll. What an interesting website! It pretty much confirms our gut feeling that any business setup just for English speakers is not going to have a large market (rough calculation 1500). Especially as those figures will include people who have taken out residency here but don't actually live here.
It would be interesting to see an equivalent for holidaymakers. I know the details are recorded. Anyone got any ideas where we can see that?

Thanks Julian, fascinating site and such interesting statistics. Though I'm not sure how accurate they are for checking my comune on 1st Jan 2008, no females were listed of my age, nor any for a year younger. And are these residents or simply home owners?

i'll try and find the site for you because it was interesting again (but perhaps for some suprisingly) to see that brits were quite a minor segment of the foreign visitors to the marche not even a third of the germans who come here and less than the canadians!

Re Canadians Sebastiano, I think my sister her husband and my niece must have skewered the figures, but seriously a very interesting topic.

On with Violetta's observations - there are (as you will all know) four categories of truths. Lies, Damned lies, Statistics and ISTAT!
There is a link - somewhere - that shows exactly this data for each region of Italy, but for the life of me I cant remember which thread it's in.
Perhaps Adriatica or Gardahomes can help?
