Thanks for the reply and sorry for the delay in reponding. My computer has had some problems and I havn't been able to use it. I've felt like my right arm has been cut off. Thanks for the encouraging words, I know he'll be ok, its just convincing him. We are over in October and again in Feb so we are trying to teach all our children some Italian in the mean time.
Thanks again
Paula :p

My daughter is 7 (so perhaps a bit young but I can help her, beside it will give her practice on her written English). We live in Le marche and she is about to start school next week.

I also have a daughter who will be 8 in October. She quite fancies having a pen pal in the old fashioned sence and can write to your daughter if thats ok with you. You can send me a private message with your address and your daughters name and Millie can set about writing her a letter over the weekend and we'll post it. :p
Thanks Kirstin, Millie is stood beside me as I type and is really excited at the thought of getting a pen pal.
I look forward to hearing from you and your daughter.
Thanks
Paula

This was such a great idea, my daughter received her first letter from Millie this morning and is over the moon. Her eyes were like saucers and she can't wait to write back and help her new friend. She thought Millie looked lovely but will be a bit cold if she comes to Italy dressed in the fancy dress costume she is in in the photo.
Hi Paula
I just wanted to say that when we came back 2 yrs ago, our middle child (son) was just 12 and was quite reluctant about the whole thing. Now 2 yrs down the line, he's settled and although has his moments, he loves it here in Italy. He had to start school without any knowledge of italian (yes, shame on us as his dad is italian !)
and we asked for him to be put back a year. He finished Scuola Media this year and is about to start a new school this Monday. he's a bit nervous - but looking forward to it. So I suppose I just want to say to your son that it will be fine - really! Theres karate over here too and lots of other great things! The language - well once he's over here, he'll find it much easier. I think children are really quick to pick up things (better than us !) and I'm sure the other children at school, will be really enthusiastic to help him and make him feel one of them ! Whenever we had any problems, we went to the school and they were very helpful.
I wish you all the best of luck !
Karen :)
