1327 Incident in Carovigno ?

Just had a quick glance at the live web cam for Carovigno. www.corovigno.com. Is there an incident or something ... or is it just a couple of carabiniere being pro-active with good public relations?

Looks like started raining - empty square. The car looks a bit strange (I'm missing some bits on my net feed so the picture is a bit blurred), like a hearse
with flowers on the roof? Anyway it's parked on the front of the chiesa where
the camera is.

Yes they had a funeral there. ..this starts to be dangerously addictive..

Went onto site (www.carovigno.com) okay but got a blank grey screen on webcam page ...is it the rain i ask myself ...or did i need to do something else... As this is the next town to us and we go through it a couple of times a week , I really need to check out the 'neighbours '..!!. :D

I assume you got to the actual webcam -page from the 'in diretta' button - just checked it and works (20.20 CET), took a while to download though.

Can be good to know what neighbors are up to!

When I first turn my computer on I log onto this web site - but no more. Now I'm tuning into Big Bro and watching the square. My eldest daughter came down stairs this morning and the first thing she said was "can we see what's going on in the square mum". Even tried to Google to see if any more nearby were registered  ......................sad I know.

Signed into carovigno site....accessed web-cam...downloaded Java, went back in...plain white screen now !!! ...did see diving video tho'..
Can't find 'in diretto' ????...

Hmmm, I have some Java versions in my comp but forcarovigno didn't down- load anything.. just went from the upper toolbar 'Carovigno/La Nzegna... and pointed over 'Webcam' which then brought submenu containing 'In Diretta' and 'Note Legali' and clicking In Diretta downloaded slowly the picture.

You can see from your Windows 'Start' and then 'All Programs' (at least in XP)
if you have Java installed.

Italy Mag forum members seems to have contributed that the Carovigno web-
cam has moved from 6th to 4th most visited turist place webcam in the world;
so they state on the front page. And if you want more webcam drug check
http://www.viagginrete-it.it/webcam/ where the listings are and loads
other cameras :)

tried everything you said planteric, found in diretta as well...still on white screen !!!!! no pictures !!...give up now !!!

Never mind Lyn. All you've got to do is jump in the car and pop down there to check things out. Give us a wave .... ;- ))

I never thought of that...why am i whittling about a blooming webcam , when the sun is shining and like you say ., I can pop down there anytime !!!!!

Thats a brillian idea. :p Lyn, you arrange a time when you and Alex can be standing in the square, say Friday at 2pm and wearing a red carnation and carrying a newspaper and slowly walk round and round and we can all log on a the same time and see you.

What about waving mini union jacks ;-)

Just had a quick look, suns out but palm trees waving like mad so guess its windy. Still looks better then here though, going now, depressed :(

Just say when Lyn :) You can bet your life that all of us Carovigno watchers will be on line :D

Too late Lyn.

I just clicked on Carovigno.com and there's a lad tap dancing in the piazza. (Or maybe it's just the latency that's giving it that effect).

No dog cocking a leg however ;- ))

Lyn, sorry for not being able to help; you must be missing the Java or if you
downloaded it yesterday the installation failed or is not done, but that you have
to ask from someone wiser than me.

Can tell you there has been quite a bit strolling this evening so it's better to do
as Susan suggested, ie. jump in the car!

Lots of kids on bikes about 6pm. I have now got eldest lad hooked, as soon as he got in from school we logged on. He's gone out with his dad tonight to visit a new born baby clutching a copy of Italy mag in his hand (ex husband will be thrilled). I think the mention of Italy is like rubbing salt in a wound to him at the moment (ah shame).

Last night I was fancinated with the upper veranda window on the right hand side. A person was poppin in and out like he/she was attached to the veranda railings with a piece of elastic. Cant wait for the next festival.

Actually never thought about it until now  but the village (I use that term very loosely) that I live in now has a square in the centre, complete with benches, clock tower and a plaque to a local boxer called Peter Kaye. (Golborne, where, we had the pit explosion some 20 years ago) This is were the simillarity ends, ours has grafitti scrawled into the wood on the benches and beer cans play an architectural part of the landscape behind the benches in the shrubbery, dogs frequently leave nice little bundles of pleasure for all to see (and step in, if its not a lump of chewing gum) and we also get groups of men sitting around enjoying the afternoon weather, (probably been chucked out of the pub). Event the Xmas tree last year (first for 10 years cos the bulbs kept gettin pinched) had security fencing round it. Musnt forget the younger generation, they are usually hanging around waiting for their parents to come out of the local accross the road. I know I'm painting a pretty lousy picture but I dont atually live in a bad place, I just cant imagine what some of the places in the Uk are like (Moss Side and Salford spring to mind).

Tomorrow I shall take my packed lunch and stroll to the square and park myself on a bench and enjoy...............................NOT

Back to the web cam and dream...........................................my relocation cant happen fast enough......... :(
What does that say about me who lives in Salford and works in Moss Side?

It's OK - no offence taken. I usually try to avoid the fact that I live in Salford, which is why I have Manchester as my location. There are some areas that I wouldn't go to in broad daylight, let alone after dark!

Janie...how did you get that picture by your name....nothing to do with the thread I know...but that's me !!!!! :D

You need to select 'edit Avatar' from the Quick Links at the top of the Forum page and follow the instructions. I used one of my own pictures which I had to reduce in size before I could use it. Must get back to work now!

Lyn, where on carovigno site did you find video about diving, as you know Dave and I like to scuba dive or wasn't it that sort of diving?

Ciao

Stupid me! Found it now! Looks a bit chilly, not quite like the red sea. Never mind have everything else I love in Italy :D

Could be there is a wedding in the square today........have a look but be quick........ :D

definitely a wedding, the photographers just taking the photo's, and the bride has just come out...........

They've gone, did anybody else catch it.

Blast ... missed it! Was out shopping :- (

It seamed weird watching somebody's wedding all that way in Italy.

The bride wore a sleevless fairly straight number and a long veil in white. The car was also white (or cream) had was a soft top, vintage looking with flowers on the bonnet. The sun shone until the car drove away and then it went dull. I could have cried as it I was there myself.

Right now all I see is pigions  I'm only here until noon today - but I'll keep watching for a woman and 4 kids who knows without planning I may see Paula and her kids. I'll also check when I get home, but it maybe too late to be out. We'll see ;)

Okay I'm going to be watching it also looks as if it is raining. It is 6:50 a.m. Monday morning my time in California - so there should be a little activity going on out there.

I'm obsessed with this piazza :o

Peggy

Aren't we all Peggy.

Nice description Paula ... as an ardent watcher I was really dissappointed to have missed it.

The pigeons came down once the crowd had gone and are probably eating whatever was thrown over the couple, rice? perhaps

All I'm getting is a grey screen :( Do I need to download a particular programme? Feel like I am missing out!

You download and install this program

http://www.java.com/it/download/windows_automatic.jsp

stopped firewall and program in automatic execution.

thanks

Thought I was missing out on something so watchged for a bit. Saw the Piazza in all its glory. Saw a man walking along the pavement, he stopped and appeared to light a cigarette - then he walked on. Nothing else happened; no weddings, no funerals, no bank heists - no people, not even a pigeon. Times Square webcam in New York is a bit more dynamic, but I'll probably give Carovigno one last chance

It's raining there at the moment so I don't think people will even be out this evening for a stroll in the square.

I've been checking in at around 6:30-7:00 in the morning there (late at night here) and enjoying the local people gathering for the day. I see cars pull up and
people walking to the left of the screen, are gone for 10 or 15 minutes, and then come back to their cars and leave. I'm thinking that must be where the local coffee house is. Here, we go to local coffee houses in the morning and leave with a cup of coffee that we drink in our cars on the way to work. I like the way the Italians take the time to enjoy their coffee there, not running off with a cup in their cars. :)

I'm so busy today I haven't even had time to look to see what is going on in the piazza. I shouldn't even be here writing but needed a quick Italy break :)

Why did Carovigno.com write? I did not understand what he said :( I was going to look it all up, but haven't had time to do that.

Jeez this working stuff hee hee. Maybe I'll have time to check in later.

Have a good evening all of you.

Peggy

Hi Peggy

I suspect that the administrator of the site noticed that it was getting many more hits than normal since we all started logging on a couple of weeks ago :- )

Maybe he's monitoring the forum. Either way he's offering to help anyone having trouble connecting to the webcam.

Really nice of him, huh?

;) Lunch - so I have a minute - too much to do to take a whole hour. Anyway, Thank you Susan for translating - that is nice of them to do that should we have trouble.

I'm going to take a quick peek and then eat something I'm starving!

Ciao Peggy

Enjoy Peggy i Buon appetito! ... if that's the right spelling?

The only mention I can see is a weblink which takes you back in to this thread.

I had a quick look yesterday afternoon to see if the weather was holding up for the Puglia party and just caught the pall bearers loading the coffin into the back of the hearse. I felt as if I shouldn't have been watching and came off the site. The were no flowers and apart from the pall bearers and the driver, I couln't see another soul. Ahhh!
