Another question not quite related to broadband but similar - is the remote dial up technology being offered by Vodafone and others available in Italy? It allows laptop users to access emails and the web when on the move.

Hi Sano,
as far as I know the remote dialup technology from Vodafone is in theory available. The tricky part is the quality of the connection where you are and whether both GSM and GPRS are available.
To double check on coverage for broadbannd in your area get hold of a phone number close to where you will live and pass it thorugh the following webpage

good luck!
ISDN is widely available, but not DSL, so in many areas you are limited to 128kb/s maximum. This isn't quite as bad as it sounds, remember the "a" in ADSL stands for assymetric with 233kb/s upload and 2Mb/s download. ISDN will give you acceptable performance for email, OK for web but don't expect to get much in the way of streaming media. If you want broadband in rural areas satellite is the only option at present.
