Hello there ! I live in Spoleto, in the centre of Umbria. Laurie and I moved here from London about 10 years ago. It was the best thing we EVER did. Spoleto is the most spell-bindingly beautiful place, older than Rome, like living in a giant fairy-tale castle with twisting, cobbled, arched alleyways, teaming with bars, shops and restaurants, perched on a hill, surrounded by mountains. Every day is a dream for us ! The weather is predominantly sunny with clear blue skies, except for the occasional day in Jan, Feb and March, when the temperatures can fluctuate between 7 - 17 degs C. But, this change in weather makes a refreshing change from the rest of the year, when it is hot, reaching temperatures of around 40 degs in August.

Ciao, ciao, Norma

Hi Norma and welcome to the site. I have been to Spoletto when we stayed in Monte Falco and certainly agree with what you wrote. Luck y you for living permanenetly out there.

Hi Norma and welcome. Enjoy the Forum.

Welcome Norma, you certainly paint a beautiful picture of Spoleto. It is really nice to hear that you have achieved your dream.

Yes, you have certainly chosen one of the most beautiful cities in Italy in which to live (IMO)!

Tell me - have they got round to moving the Carabineri out of the old Roman amphitheatre down towards the station? I read about plans to restore this complex a couple of years ago - probably hasn't happened yet - but it will rival Lucca and Assisi when it is cleared of the army clutter and portakabins!
