Thanks, I am flattered, but, not able to comply, logistically very difficult. Enjoy your party though. :)

Hi Lyn,
The idea of a party is great. Unfortunately we're stoney broke at the minute so I dont know if we can make it. But , having said that , "where there's a will there's a way", so you never know. We could probably make it any time in October but as the schools are off from the 20th that would be good for us. Although , on second thoughts, the flights are more expensive then. So actually a non school holiday date would probably be best for us at the minute, and better for anyone else who is watching the pennies. I'm sure my kids would agree with the wisdom of this !! I'll have a think and send you a pm. Oh I hope we can come!!!
Fiona

I booked my October flights in June and although the kids don't finish school until the 20th we've booked from the 18th for two weeks. The'll finish a couple of days earlier and go back a couple of days late. We always ask the teacher for a bit of work to take with them. We've only paid £1.99 each way (£12 with the tax) so I think the trick is to book early. Saying that they've reduced the outgoing flight on the 18th Oct to 1p yesterday.

We're all routing for you Flyingveepixies !!!..( is it rooting or routing as in road...i've no idea...never written it before but say it a lot !!!! )!!!!!!!

Hope this blooming party is worth it !!!!!! ...oh it's our party...ooops :D

I have sent e-mails and PMs to everyone interested in the party. If I have missed anyone ( i.e. you haven't got a message , please send me PM and I will send info !)

Party is on 11th October ......not too late if you want to come !!! :)

As the flyingvees try desperately to book flights , the whole of Italy is on tenderhooks...will they make it to the San Vito Party......roll credits...da da da da-da .......tune in next week for the conclusion to this cliffhanger ;)

( Guess who hasn't got English telly !!!! :D )

We do NOT want any pictures or film of us or our house on the web...I have already told everyone this but no-one seems to be listening.
Most people coming are really embarrassed by the very thought...including us.... !!!
The whole idea of the party is for people to meet up and have some fun...not worry about some idiot with a camera....
There will be other friends here including our new Italian friends who would be appalled.
Hope you get the message......and just come along and enjoy yourselves.

Lyn you are so right, I for one, got all wrapped up in that idea because I can't be there, so I didn't think. I too would not want my house and personal things on an internet site. My sincerest apologies for one of the ones to get carried away. :(

Ciao :) Peggy
For the benefit of those of us who have aren't coming, but who have read about this party over the last few weeks, I hope a few digital cameras will be on hand!! A web page (hosted by Italy Mag perhaps?) giving a full report on the proceedings, along with some incriminating images, could be interesting!
For the rest of us, at least, it might be nice to put some faces to names.

Cheers, Derek :)
Hi

We can provide web space for your party pictures if you need it.

Just joined the forum
So sorry we wont be in Ostuni at the time you have your rave .Have one for us!!!! .Perhaps we will meet up next time we visit.
A Presto Tricia

We signed up yesterday evening, obviously should've done it sooner. We booked flights a month ago to revisit on the 8th.. had we known...well, looks like we're not the first to say it!! Have a good one - sounds like it's gonna be. Next year maybe?

thanks Peggy...that is exactly the point...if the party was in a public place...fine...but not at someones' house. As we all know , there are some very strange people who surf the 'net' .

Good luck Trishie great place, see you for no doubt several legendary parties over the next 12 months.

;)

me too, I just wanted to be there sob sob :( , never mind, now pre-occupied with getting all stuff packed onto the van for Neal to set off on Monday for the long lonley drive. Dont envy him. Have a good one :)

I think now everyone has thought about it , they realise they wouldn't want it if they were hosting the party at their house.
Sorry you can't be here .....can't wait to see you and family later in the month. :)

We sign for our villa near San Vito on Oct 3rd, and will be around til the 16th, sleeping on the floor, putting together flat pack furniture, painting walls, you get the idea.

I think you should however insist that everyone who attends, bring, and post a photograph of their favourite Herb...

Somebody flies into Italy from Doncaster airport, I haven't checked it at all for destinations here, but the company is Thompson fly, might be worth a "Google"

Puglia Party - what a great idea. Unfortunately don't think we will be in residence (we're moving lock, stock and barrel) until November at the earliest. Mabye next time.

Ciao
Technically Blonde

they only fly to pisa unfortunately, doncaster would be superb for us can only keep fingers crossed for ryan air to get in there

Hi,
If you can make the party ..brilliant..just let us know...if not give us your dates in Nov and perhaps we can meet up...or perhaps oraganise a Christmas Party for all the new Residents !!!!

Hi Alex and Lyn

That would be great - we will certainly contact you when we have our dates and would love to meet you and other new (or old) residents!!!
Can't wait for Ryanair to announce Liverpool - Brindisi / Bari, then no more drive down to Stanstead (dont actually mind that though).

If I was there permanent Lyn, I'd of give you a lift with the curtains and between us we'd have then done in no time. (I've got a curtain shop). I'm going to bring one of my industrial machines with me, I can't sew on one of those little domestic machines now, compared to my industrial they are sooooooooooo slow.

You'll have to make little badges for the party then we know who's who and issue a list of who's coming. I've bought a couple of Italian recepie books in our local charity shop so I'll have a look through and see what I can concockt. I dont think I'll be trying the Croquet's of Sheeps brains though

Paula
Neil, are Ryan Air opening a route from Liverpool to Brindisi/Bari?

Have just put the curtains on hold !!!!! ( joke !!!) :D

Robert our youngest son has just sent over ' The Mafia just moved in next door and they're dropping by for dinner' cook book...really funny and the recipes are great.....

if my neighbour has time, i'm going to see if i can get the bread oven going and perhaps knock up some pizzas...can't promise tho'....don't even know if it works......still I'll throw together something !

Pixies are booked up from the 4th -13th oct so hope to see some of you over there. If anyone wants to get in touch send us a pm and we can swap phone numbers.

It'll be just exactly the right time of year to trim the almond trees a bit too I think........excellent.

Can't seem to get those little smiley faces where I want them to go......it'll only let me do one at the top of the page ??

I dont know how you lot do it with regard to getting the cheap flights !! We've just trawled through every option we can think of and we cant get it under about £350 for the four of us. It doesnt help that we're up here in sunny Sunderland and we cannot stomach the drive to Stansted I'm afraid.
Oh well... we'll just have to throw caution to the wind, as usual. Hope to see some of you there but you might have to feed us and buy all the drinks as all our money will have been spent on the flights !!!
Fiona

We always used Stanstead I am afraid ...so don't know what to suggest.

Any idea what dates you are looking at ??? Is it the school holidays ?....at the moment it seems to be split 50-50 between 1st 2 weeks and 2nd 2 weeks of October....some are already here and flexible.

I have my list now  will give it a few more days and then let you know when we can make it !!!!!!!! ;)

are you bringin your guitar Kenny ? Alex has found a music shop in San Vito and just bought a new amp !!!! He also has an acoustic over here.
I'd offer to do backing vocals but Alex would leave me...I'm tone deaf...but insist I'm not !!

Eldest son bought him mikes for his birthday !!..that's if you don't mind playing with an old codger ...( he's having a siesta and asleep so I can say that :D !!!!)

Thats right with the digital camara we should have photo's on line the very next day. Dont forget lyn to make HUGE readable badges for everybody so that we can read them. I've got flight to book and a ferry to book in the morning. Been to Blackpool to watch the illuminations tonight with the little ones. Had a great time on the pleasure beach and eat too much candy floss and too many donoughts.......mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :p

SUNDERLAND....... I, errrm, I...... WELL......( I supplied the fixings which rebuilt Burleigh Garths many years ago, when I lived in Newcastle...)

Mmmhhh... this partying thing sounds good. But... though I must admit I haven't read all of the posts, it seems to be a party for english people only. Flipping through the posts I haven't seen one from italian people (ah, by the way I'm from Puglia) so I was just wondering if I could consider me invited...

Let me know... I could be there...

Bye, all...

Antonio

Please a webcam or pictures ;) That would be great for those of us who can't be there.... me :(

Peggy

We are really sorry to be missing the party - would love to meet everyone. We are hoping to come over the following weekend (juggling days off work to maximum effect). Once that is definite I'll post a note and perhaps anyone still standing by the Saturday could meet up for a drink?

Looking forward to seeing the pictures!

Yes I will be there in spirit, I'll be sat at home sobbin :( (or still bed buying in Ikea). Trust me to book flights for the week after, never mind, could be worse, I could be Neal driving my way down there while your all partying.

Hi chaps,

Nah I wont have a guitar with me until next year when I drive over with a lot of stuff. What kind of amp? I just bought a Trace Elliot 'Speed Twin' on ebay which is very nice indeed!

The problem with our flights is the fact that we have to get to stansted from Sunderland which entails the involvement of easyjet: and as everyone knows they aren't really that cheap at all. I've seen the 1p fares on offer from Ryanair but we can't take advantage of them without paying a fortune for the Easyjet newcastle-stansted flight. We drove down once and left the car in the Stansted airport car park for a week (£60 parking and £60 petrol)) and also had an overnight stay at a 'cheap' hotel in the area (£90) so's we could catch the Bari flight in the morning.

Going to Brindisi there is the hassle of starting our day at 5am and not arriving at our house till almost 10.30pm which is hard on all of us but particularly so for the little pixies with that horrible 6 hour wait in Stansted

It would seem that our best option is Easyjet from Newcastle to Rome. It leaves from here at 7.30am and arrives at Ciampino at 11.30am. We could then drive the rest of the way which I think would take about 4 hours and should get us home in time for tea. The cheapest we can get that for is around £320 but at least it's only one easy little flight and no hanging around.

Anyway, I think we're definately coming over around the 28th of september for 8-10 days.......... by hook or by crook as they say!!

What about Blackpool to Stanstead, how long would the drive be for you to Blackpool. Ryanair do this run and I've just had a look and they've loads of 1p flights in October for instance 17th out for 1p and 26th back for 99p. The only bug bear again would be a wait at the airport for the connecting flight. If it saves you a packed you dont mind, but could be a possibility.............???

Paula

Looks like we may have to have 2 parties at the moment....that's a shame isn't it !!!!!!:D
Will let you all know as soon as I have made a list ( I love lists !!! ;) ), to find best dates......still getting these bills paid at the moment ...and trying to make curtains..do the garden, eat , sleep, drink sit on verandah ( by the way ...weather gorgeous yesterday !!).....it's a hard life
