1276 From Marina del Rey to Le Marche

A warm hello from Marina del Rey California! We're John & Dee Scott and are moving to Le Marche. We've been planning this for several years and are just thrilled to be actually making this happen. We would love to hear from others.
We have narrowed our searches down to the Ascoli Piceno area. We have combed over hundreds of properties and have a good handful that we're looking forward to seeing. Our home here in California is on the market, and we're on pins and needles awaiting a sale. Let us know about you and your favorite places. Best wishes! J & D

Wow - good luck, its a long way from California. Is it hard for US citizens to get residency?
A year ago next week we came out to Le Marche for our first look around - found our perfect house on the last day. Rushed back to the uk, put my house in London on the market - after months of agony we finally bought our lovely place in April this year. Have been out twice since for quick visits - are having our first week with friends there next week and will be back screwdrivers and paintbrushes in hand at Xmas. Hope to get there permanently in a few years.
Its a wonderful place - we're near Monte San Martino and Amandola. Ascoli is wonderful but has a very confusing traffic system - I find it impossible to leave the place - round and round we go...
Have you found somewhere great to stay while you're hunting?

Hi Marinaw, thanks for your response!

We will be buying a little cabin in the mountians here in California as well (we have 3 boys who live here, so we need to come see them and friends) so we will start out with having our home in Italy as a vacation home to start with. We'll look at residency at a later date.

Congratulations!!!

How exciting! We've been spending so much time fixing up our current house to get the maximum out of it, the fixing up the new place isn't one of the things we're looking forward to right away ;)

Hope to get there permanently in a few years.

Looks like a very popular area from our research. Very nice people and beautiful!

Hey, it will remind us of Los Angeles

We have several possibilities. We like Offida and the surrounding area and are looking around there, so we will most likely set up camp in that location. We're also looking near Fermo, so we might stay there a while too. We're ocean lovers and will be biting the bullet big time and having to pay more to be close to the water. Of course, if we find something we really love in another area, we're open to changes.

Tell us about your home, we'd love to hear all the details!

I hope one day to live in the smaller house and let out the bigger house in the Summer..
Good luck with your search - I found Monica Bruni to be a good agent in Amandola. I think its much more beautiful 40kms in from the sea than on the coastline as well as being cheaper but whatever floats your boat eh..

Looks Beautiful Marina! I love your idea of living in the smaller house and letting out the bigger house. It's a fantastic home, again congratulations!

And guess what? Monica and Michela are showing us many of the homes we will be looking at! If you want to see the homes we will be looking at on her website, PM me and I'll give you the numbers so you can see our choices.

If you'd like to see our home (we're selling) here's a link:

What a lovely house, I would think you'll shed a few tears when you leave it, good luck with your purchase over here... :)

Thank you George. We most likely will shed a few tears. After 20 years and 3 grown boys (youngest still living here in the guest house with girlfriend "visiting"
every night  ) growing up here it will be a little sad to say good-bye.

On the other hand, John & I are ready for a new adventure! We've both worked very hard for many years in the entertainment business (which can be ruthless)
and have paid our dues. I'm 50 and John is 54 , we are still very young and full of vitality and enthusiasm! We have traveled extensively and have really taken everything we can think of into consideration on where?, why?, how? and when?

We're both logically creative, and I think that has been the reason we've actually been able to make a living and raise three boys working in an artistic and entertainment field.

We're both researchers and love the learning aspect. Any additional information we can gather about our new destination is like pure gold to us! :)

[We are just about to go - Monica is pressing for a surveyor to get a move on! And we are in Santa Vittoria it is lovely with perfect views of Monte San Martino and the mountains. Keep in touch. Janet

Hello Janet,

We're so happy to meet you! Please PM us :)

Tell us about your adventure and how you knew your home in Santa Vittoria was
the one.

We're getting together some of the technical issues as we wait here for our home to sell. Would love to hear from you and find out how you're planning on doing this.

Warmest regards,
John & Dee
