1361 New Member - Holiday home in Ostuni

Hi
We bought a villa near Ostuni last March and we love it there. Have been over regularly and am getting used to the pace of life and becoming laid back when things aren't done on time. Would love to hear from other people either living over there or with holiday homes to compare notes. Does anyone know of a language school near Ostuni - am trying to learn Italian but it is a slow process!

A very warm welcome to you from just one of many who have recently, or are about to, bought in this area. We bought a villa just outside San Vito dei Normanni in June and are going back in October to do some work. If you have time, trawl through all the old posts and you will find there are loads of us in our area.

We are sure to get our own calender next year.

Welcome once again :D

Paula

Hi The Tremawan

We too are looking to buy in Puglia and will be there in October for some serious viewings. I found this site only a week ago ... is it only a week? There's so much good advice and information on the different threads ... plus some very nice and funny people.

Best of luck learning Italian.

We too have just bought in the area - just outside of San Vito dei Normanni and we're looking forward to going over again in October. Hope to meet you, possibly at the party on the 11th ?

Kinds regards

Hi
we bought our villa almost exactly a year ago. Its just 7km outside of Ostuni. We love it and haven't been over as much as we'd like (too skint !), but we're over for a week in early October. We've got two young children , agirl of six and a boy of three. If you, or anyone else with kids, wants to meet up when our visits coincide that would be great .

Thanks for the replies - delighted to know there are so many of you out there who share our enthusiasm for Puglia! We are back there this week-end and then for half term at the end of October.
Why exactly are some people down as equestrian, plebiean, senator etc. etc. Haven't worked that one out yet.

Anne

All to do with how gobby you are... the more posts you rack up - the more pompous the title!

In a bid to get myself a more pompous title, here's another note saying hello. We go over to Puglia this Sunday to sign for our villa near San Vito. We'll also be going to the already infamous party at Alex & Lyn's on the 11th.

Kate :)

Hi Kate

Many congratulations on signing for your villa near San Vito. We're going over next week to look for a villa ourselves in the same general area with a view to relocating permanently.

We'll also be at the party ... can't wait ... and look forward to meeting you.

I'm sure you'll (and everyone else) will be able to give us lots of good advice.

Sue

And welcome from the amazingly gobby and pompous one too... :D

I cannot wait to go to Ostuni on Sunday, and then sign for the villa on Monday, gosh we are almost a gang now. Going to meet lots of interesting like-minded people, rather like doing the Italian lessons meeting all sorts of people in professions you normally dont meet.

Great....just keep chatting...try having half hour at home each day when you all speak italian ...it will build you confidence .....have the old dictionaries handy..you'll be amazed how much you learn...and you can have a laugh as well !!!! :)

Just had our first lesson, which was great. Bit nervous about speaking out but luckily the teacher started us off with the BBC Talk Italian cd which I have already gone through. Still confusing though when you actually have to talk to another pupil.

Roll on next week :D
